The Value in a Name
Holding near and dear the names of those I love. Only speaking of them as if I were paying the price of life
By Cassie GPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Conversation sparks free exchange
Of my loved ones’ sacred names
Though an act of courtesy
I long to pay the world
With their holy currency
Eager to tithe
And muffle the forlornly
Dropping coins into the plate
When I speak of them warmly
Presenting large bills
With accounts of our laughter
Inflation dismantled
Then and hereafter
Passed verbally
Full to the brim
Plate overflowing
As I appraise them
Their value unspoken
Is to disrespect a token
Their existence begotten
To not be forgotten
I will always spare
My beloved change
