Trio

a tiny winter poem

By Ellie HoovsPublished about a year ago 1 min read

We used to be

quite the pair

hand in hand

eye to eye

heart on heart

then a black mirror

came in like a curse

like the one that mocked

the evil queen

does it tell you I’m not fair?

does it show you all the fairest?

They say it takes two to tango

but what happens when

one stops dancing

because the third wheel

is always on her throne

shiny and new,

always up to date.

i cannot compete

with immortalities time capsule

that grants desire at gigabit speeds

two became three

and that’s one too many for me.
