Sometimes

the hardest thing

is walking away

Taking steps toward

a new direction

After you’ve been left

dead in your tracks

Leaving behind

the happy memories

The serendipitous moments

of love and laughter

Going forward

on your path

Reaching new destinations

on your own

Without the ones

who made you smile

Without the ones

who left you to cry

It's hard to walk away

from something you love

but it becomes easier when you realize

you were the only one

invested in it's worth

Sometimes I look back

and think about turning back

Then I remember who left who

& realize I have more self-respect than that

Than to turn back

to someone who turned their back

When they damn well knew

in that moment

I had no one left

But it's in those moments

when you walk forward

that the universe conspires

To bless each step you take

Each footsteps becomes more divine

It's hard to walk away from people

that you had pictured would stay

with you through the miles

But if you were meant to walk together

when you started walking

they never would have left your side
