What Silence Told Me

The Unspoken Truths That Changed Everything

By Astone ZuluPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

Silence has a way of speaking, louder than words ever could. I learned this the hard way, in the spaces between conversations, in the pauses that stretched too long, and in the goodbyes that never needed to be said.

There was a time when I believed silence was empty, a void where words should have been. But then I met you. And in your silence, I heard everything. I heard the things you couldn’t say, the things you were afraid to admit. I heard the weight of unspoken feelings, the quiet ache of distance, the hesitation in your hands when they almost reached for mine.

At first, I tried to fill the silence. I spoke too much, trying to bridge the gap with laughter, stories, anything that would keep the quiet at bay. But over time, I realized that silence wasn’t absence it was presence. It held truths that words could never capture.

Silence told me that love is not always spoken, that sometimes it lingers in a glance, a sigh, the way someone stays even when they have nothing left to say. Silence told me that pain is patient, that it waits in the background until you’re ready to face it. Silence told me that some answers don’t come in sentences but in the quiet moments between heartbeats.

And in the end, silence told me the one thing I never wanted to hear, it was time to let go.
