*****

I find myself on this road quite often,

wishing for the pain to end

as the darkness descends like a closing coffin.

*

Sometimes, I feel like I'm an orphan,

and walking without family or friend,

I find myself on this road quite often.

*

Some days, I can feel myself begin to stiffen,

my wounds have become too deep to mend

as the darkness descends like a closing coffin.

*

I see too many hearts refuse to soften,

and as to reason this world will never bend,

I find myself on this road quite often.

*

I'm nothing more than a resource to siphon,

depleted by those who borrow but never lend

as the darkness descends like a closing coffin.

*

More than ever, I feel like I'm an orphan,

destined to walk through life without family or friend.

I find myself on this road quite often,

and darkness descends like the closing of a coffin.

Hi Lena, Your words paint a vivid tapestry of struggle and solitude, and yet, there's an undeniable resilience that shines through. It takes strength to articulate such emotions with such eloquence. I'm curious, amidst the darkness and the feeling of being an orphan on this road, what keeps the flame of hope alive within you? Is there a source of inspiration or a personal mantra that guides you through these challenging moments? Your ability to express vulnerability is a testament to your courage, and I believe there's a story of resilience and triumph waiting to unfold in the chapters ahead. Keep writing your journey, for it might inspire others to find their path through the shadows.

Heartwrenching yet beautifully written. Well done, my friend.

  • Oddly similar to what autism feels like, no matter how much evidence to the contrary there might be. May you find yourself to be found by someone(s) who are not only able but also willing--nay, desiring--to see you.

This couldn't have been easy for you to write. Or maybe your pain was just so visceral, it took form to release itself, and this was a perfect outlet to be able to breathe. Sorrow bleeds from its edges and it sounds so painful, especially the verse of the closing coffin in the end- coming full circle from the beginning. This was poignantly written, powerful, raw, and haunting. I appreciate your unfiltered and honest words. They've impacted me greatly. <3

The form of villanelle compliments the topic here beautifully. There is a.true lamenting lilt to it. Like a tide ebbing in strength. I hope it is apocryphal. ❀️❀️❀️ (ps walking alone has its benefits. I look back now and kind of miss the me time of it. πŸ˜…πŸ₯°)
