When Passion Outgrows Life

Instructions for a Feeling

There is nothing here

just paper words, a fantasy,

ignoring life's harsh reality.

I forget to breathe

while lives collide in a flash,

shattering fragile things.

I yield to their crushing weight,

kneeling, defeated.

It'll be a while before I surface,

desperate to be rescued

by ESP once more.

No one paid the ransom

and I'm stuck,

reliving the same story for months.

Thankfully, I know exactly where to go.

Thinking creatively, outside the box.

Who actually needs help?

I was told I didn't.

Now I'm in a bad place, and nobody cares.

Everybody knows what I need,

not even enquiring, just assuming things.

I'm just a puppet; they pull the strings,

telling me what I'm supposed to be.

I never fit the mould they made for me,

but they don't see it, and they don't want to.

It's easier this way,

safer

while living a lie.

At least they can boast to others.

Their lies are well-received, sins forgiven.

It's a shame none of this rings true anymore.
