Where It Feels When You Speak Me
Encryption: No roads, no maps, no directions.

Thoughts of me
feel safest
inside the words you are poised
to free from void
Your voice more velvet
than volume
reserves pride of place
to seat
stay
strum sound syllables into
one-of-a-kind exclusive blanket
I get to wear year-round
Your vocal cords hum warmth
Crown-encased intimacy
sought from undiscovered coves
offers sanctuary and shelter
when storm surge
roils its mighty frenzy
I’ve found new ways to hate you
my fugitive art form
too wild for mediums
in ways your tongue teases tenderness
where I haul degrees of tired
able to break
and swallow bodies whole
Contentment
consistent around consonants
consumes fatigue levels
fathomless and running a high fever
over routines ideal for robots
Solace cut from stainless steel—but you
—my SOLDIER my SAVIOR
whose lips found secrets sweet-ripened by sun
to share with me alone
They speak in ancient blessing
with hint of heaven
Hallowed scents of parallel life
where your kisses trickle down
in negotiable prophecy
on timelines not yet decreed
Just so nestled
against soft darkness of your cheek
where entire continents reside near truths
I long to learn—so please
P L E A S E
let’s go somewhere

Thank you for taking the time to read my poem! You and your support are incredible!
Well Vocal, this felt a new kind of exciting: 'The Unnecessary Line' challenge. There's a line in this poem that definitely does not belong, so I put it in anyhow on purpose.
And the ol' Sesame Street jingle now replaying in my head...

Wow, Dani this one feels rich and velvety! Super intimate, super immersive, and that ending really lingers. It feels like you don’t just want to be loved—you want to be deeply understood out loud. And that’s a beautiful thing to want. 💖
