I am a fractal of the people I have met, and I wonder if maybe that is who I am
I trim and shatter the pieces I can’t stand
The insecure one
The one who overexplains because...no one is listening
Here, I crumble the piece that wonders if she can feel love the way others do
I wonder if I can be as accepting of the vulnerability I wish to hold
The pieces I am left with, I wonder how to fit them together
The one who wants to laugh first in a room
Or dance in the rain
The pieces that want to show my daughter the magic in the world
The ones that want to make the inner child happy with princess crowns and shoes
I want to hug her and tell her it will be okay
That the plan is being made along the way
Without knowing all the other pieces
…quite yet
I will build and spackle more together as others fall away
Because I am a fractal of those before me
I am a patchwork design of my own
I am the only person I want to be
