Tears, as razors, slice my face.

Her words, through the years, crush me again and again.

For a few moments,

I long to escape the insecurities,

she stabbed into my heart’s all-too-good-memory.

I hate the mirror sometimes,

because you told it what to say.

All these years later,

it repeats your insults.

I’m still dumb enough to believe them.

Really strong piece. Simple lines, big impact. The mirror isn’t the villain here—it’s just echoing an old voice that no longer deserves airtime. The awareness in this poem already proves you’re smarter than the lie.

Ugh, aren’t we all guilty of this. Great job

Fucking great metaphor. Really well done. Ever been in s funhouse? Some mirrors distort. Find a more flattering one, one that highlights the best in you.
