Rising from the Ashes

A Tale of Courage and Pride

By Rofiq SamanhudiPublished 8 months ago 1 min read
Dear god, why it's feel so cruel

In a small, weathered town where hope often felt like a distant dream, two brothers, Jaya and Rian, faced a crumbling world. Their family had fractured—parents separated, debts piling high, and relatives scattered, each battling their own struggles. The streets were unkind, offering little mercy to those already down. Jobs were scarce, and the weight of survival pressed hard on their young shoulders.

But Jaya, 16, and Rian, 14, refused to let their family fade. With determination burning in their eyes, they turned to what they knew: crafting. Using salvaged wood and tools from a forgotten shed, they began making small carvings—birds, boats, and village scenes. They sold these at the market, their hands calloused but their spirits lifting with each coin earned. It wasn’t much, but it was theirs.

Word spread, and soon neighbors commissioned pieces. The boys worked late into the night, their laughter a rare sound amid the hardship. With every sale, they brought food home, paid a bill, and slowly rebuilt their family’s pride. Their mother, once broken, began to smile again, and distant relatives reached out, inspired by the boys’ grit. In a cruel world, Jaya and Rian proved that love and effort could forge a new beginning.
