BRRP BRRP BRRP

Stupid fucking alarm clock…Those were some good dreams.

Come on pups, go do your thing, and please for the love of everything don’t go through the fence again.

Shit, no creamer. Black coffee it is.

Ahh balls, forgot that meeting was at 7:30….annnnnnnd it’s 7:29….

Once again, doesn’t even show. Why do I waste my time with some of these clients?

Crap, left the dogs outside…

Stop digging!

So much for planting all that…

Teams sucks these days.

“Ohh hey Rob, pleasure to chat again.”

It’s not a pleasure Rob, it’s not at all…

Hope Kathryn got to work.

I should text her.

“Oops sorry I was on mute. The project is moving along just fine. I think we can give you some time back.”

Totally wasn’t on mute.

Good thing it’s always the same thing with Rob, but hey it’s no lie; his project is indeed on track.

That first coffee went down too smooth

Should mix in a water. (Probably won’t).

Need to feed the dogs.

Didn’t text Kathryn. Do that now, you idiot.

Let's go with something funny this morning.

*Ping*

I hate the teams icon more than anything.

Damn it Greg, yeah I can cover for you.

That was mean–Greg’s a good one.

I should work on a new project.

Holy shit where did the time go?

I’ve gotten nothing done today.

How long have I been staring out this window?

Need to take a lap.

Ohh look at these two adorable pups.

Here’s some good pets.

What would I do without you two?

I should write a book about the little refugee pups.

“Bob and Lois take on the world!”

Great opportunity for some social commentary mixed with cute puppy anecdotes.

I like it.

Ugh fine back to work.

Finally, clock out.

Work out.

Dinner.

A record and a glass of wine.

This ain’t too bad.

It really is the little things. I love when Kathryn reminds me of that.

Damn, bedtime already?

There’s still quite a few to-do’s…

Nope.

Quit that shit, brain. Leave work for tomorrow.

Not feeling reading tonight (the audience gasps in collective shock at such a sin).

Sometimes I can be funny.

“Hey Kathryn I made a funny,”

Annnnnnnnnnnd she’s asleep.

I wish I had that super power.

Goodnight Bob, Goodnight Lois. Get those squirrels in your dreams (please not in real life).

Can’t sleep.

Shit, no melatonin.

Does that stuff even work?

Probably not, but ehh.

Alright let’s read some shit, at least that’s better than scrolling through oblivion.

It’s not shit–chill man.

People worked hard on this.

Damn, okay great entry. Have a like.

Actually, screw it, here's a buck.

At least it’s a perfect temperature in here.

It really is the little things.

Maybe, those dreams will pick up where they left…

***

In Texas, Rob hung up, confident in things moving forward. Something tickled the back of his neck though. Something was off. He gave the vendor plan a once over again. Matt didn’t lie, that was square. Wait. there it was…a critical error in his own team's plan. A quick call, and things were sorted, but Rob leaned back, wondering what would have happened if he didn’t have a few minutes to double check.

Out in DC, Greg snored in his daughter’s reading chair. Her fever finally broken. He thought she might sleep through the night tonight. Even if she didn’t, this was the most unbroken sleep he’d had in a week. He knew he needed a break, but he was never one to take one. At least this time, he knew his queue was covered.

At her office, Kathryn smiled at the silly text. It had been a long morning, but she reminded herself it was the little things that mattered–doubly so when dealing with rude patients.

Somewhere across the pond, a young writer, scared shitless to finally put their name on something, wakes up a dollar richer and a grin worth a million bucks.

and…(most importantly, let's be honest) as they fluttered off to sleep in their warm, memory foam beds, with bellies full and fans pushing cold air through their coats, Bob and Lois dreamed of their lives on the streets of Doha and Kabul, lives they would never, ever, ever have to go back to.

Obligatory Doggos, In the foreground is Lois rescued from Kabul, and in the rear, our patriarch Bob rescued from Doha (that much of this story is true)

I love the whirlwind of chaotic thoughts and how they all bounced off each other, weaving together!

Your dogs are absolutely adorableee!! Also, I really like the chaotic thoughts and the fact that they all bounced between each other! This is like what my mind does, so it's great that you managed to capture it in writing as well. The part with work and how you were not actually on mute was relatable lol. Made me chuckle! I love this piece :)

Well done on a fitting Top Story, great to share the Pysche front page with you, bud! Also, I loved how this just is how I imagine the average Fromm day going lol (no offence intended - I remember you saying stuff about staring out your window before lol) Love the story of the dogs and the bit about a tip and just how you filled in the blanks about what the other members of the team and your wife (I presume) were doing out there in the story. Love the monologue throughout - funny and relatable. And yeah, those are some fine doggos and well done for supporting rescue charities etc. Often the best way to get good dogs that just need good homes. Well done again, see I led with the Top Story bit cos I knew I'd forget with all the mumblings lol!
