Three-Peat Denied
The Philadelphia Eagles trampled the Kansas City Chiefs to capture their second Super Bowl title

On Sunday night, the Kansas City Chiefs had one mission in Super Bowl LIX: to win their third consecutive Super Bowl title. They would've made NFL history by becoming the first team to win three Super Bowl titles in a row. Unfortunately, this wasn't meant to be and their three-peat hopes were dashed.
The Philadelphia Eagles literally ran away with this game and while the Chiefs managed to score 22 points, the Eagles had this victory in the bag. The final score was 40-22 and Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl LIX MVP. As a Cowboys fan, I have a huge dislike of the Eagles. However, I have to give them kudos for stopping the Chiefs from making history. I had zero interest in watching the game, but received score updates throughout the night. These two teams aren't the match up I or anyone else wanted to see, but the Eagles took care of business and ran all over the Chiefs.

Speaking of the Chiefs, I wrote two stories on Vocal last year about their kicker, Harrison Butker. During a commencement speech at a college in Kansas last May, he spoke on a range of topics: from the roles of women to disparaging Pride Month. He faced backlash for his remarks, describing them as misogynistic and bigoted. Butker has yet to apologize for his offensive comments. I went in on him for being insensitive and perpetuating outdated stereotypes. You can read those two stories, which can be found in the links down below. After Sunday night's crushing loss to the Eagles, I called this sweet karma for Harrison Butker. I'll never respect an athlete who thinks that working women and LGBTQ+ people should be treated less than who they are. As I've stated in my Clayton Kershaw story, just because you have a religious belief, it doesn't give you the right to disparage or disrespect other people.

Congratulations again to the Philadelphia Eagles for winning Super Bowl LIX!
