My Preparations For Ramadan
How I Prepare Without Over Planning

When I started writing, my goal was to write about daily life, struggles, positive changes in life. Readers likes stories and they enjoy seeing positive changes in their lives. I prefer topics that comes from real situations, because they are simple to understand and easy to apply.
Today, I am writing my third story. I called my friend Javeria and during our chat, asked her if she could advise me about my next story. I told her that this time I want something a different topic. She helped me and said Ramadan is coming, how about it.
As Ramadan is approaching, I decided to focus on what I have learned from my last Ramadan, reminding myself that preparation is not only about the kitchen but also creating a peaceful routine
I will not write about the preparation of dishes, spending your time in the kitchen. Making and freezing parathas, no this won't be like that. I will write according to my experience of last Ramadan. I will share my personal experience.
My this story better I will call it article. Last year like others I froze the parathas and also made a dough during Ramadan. During Sehri I realized that I am running short of frozen parathas so I immediately made a fresh paratha. I compared the cooking times for frozen paratha versus a fresh one, and I was amazed there was hardly any difference!
Personally speaking, this time I have decided not to freeze.
We mostly forget the importance of the Holy month Shaban. Most of us started cooking, cleaning the kitchen, etc. This Holy month before Ramadan is for preparation. Preparation not for kitchen but spiritual preparation. I preferred fasting on Monday and Thursday along with on 13th,14th and 15th of Holy month. Focus on worship, try to do Tuhajjid. Because these matter most .
I am not saying to totally neglect your kitchen, this was the experience I had last year.
After, few weeks Ramadan will be here. Everyone will be thinking how abut the preparation. My preparation will be very simple. For example if Fasting starts from tomorrow, I will make salan for two days. And I will choose to prepare those dish which slow carbohydrate release. Choose complex carbohydrate dishes. Choose drinks that helps keep you hydrate. Instead of using sugar in tea or any sweet dish sprinkle cinnamon powder. Cinnamon powder helps in energy level.
Medical evidence suggests that cinnamon does more than just add a flavour. It may help with a blood sugar balance and inflammation, so pinch of it works fine for me. This is how I prepared my sehri along with yogurt and homemade smoothie. We all love yogurt and I always make it at home. It was a small example of my preparation. I am sharing it from my personal experience, every person has different requirements.
As I think of about Ramadan this year, I realized that every change I made last year made me something valuable. Even the simplest adjustments made a difference in my mood, energy and the way I approached each day of fasting. These little lessons stay with me, and they shape how I want to prepare again this year.
How about your preparation? What routine works best for you as Ramadan approach. Each household prepare differently so may be your approach maybe completely different from mine.
As I conclude this article, I want to thanks my friend Javeria for helping me choose the topic and reminding me that inspiration often comes from a simple conservation, the ones that gently guide us without us even realizing
