Exploring Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park
How to Get There and When to Visit

Hua Hin is a lush jungle paradise with waterfalls, ancient mountain temples, national parks, beautiful beaches and even a Monkey Mountain. While many visitors flock to its beautiful beaches, there are hidden gems in the National Parks to discover, that will take your Hua Hin experience to the next level. With many different national parks in Thailand to choose from, the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park stands out with the Phraya Nakhon Cave. Let us take a look at how you can make the most of your visit here.
A Background of the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park
This large national park covers over 98 square kilometres of land and coastline and is regarded as the first marine national park in Thailand. The name is loosely translated to “The Mountain with three hundred peaks” in reference to the series of limestone mountains and hills that are found alongside the Gulf of Thailand. The park is made up of large wetland areas and freshwater marshes. Many tourists and visitors flock to see the iconic Phraya Nakhon Cave with its iconic Royal Pavilion and vast open chamber, the Kaeo Cave and also to see the marine life and birds in the Thung Sam Roi Yot Freshwater Marsh.
When to Visit Hua Hin
The National Park and its attractions are open throughout the year, but it is important to note that different seasons will affect the weather in which you will be visiting. The rainy season of the months of May through to October offers a different experience where you will witness a beautiful backdrop of scenery with rain clouds and sunlight streaming through the dark skies. The drier months can get hot, but in the park amongst the fresh flora and trees, you will always feel relatively cool. There is a small entrance fee to be paid at the park entrance and is good for the entire day and the boat trips are an extra charge.

Travelling to the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park and Getting Around
Visiting the park is usually done by usage of private transportation, as the park is not accessible by most public transport methods. Many of the park attractions are open to the public from 8 am in the morning till about 4.30 pm and so an early start to your visit is advisable as a visit to the park will usually take up the entire day because travelling between the attractions can take time, especially if you wish to spend time at each attraction. A day trip excursion can be arranged with a taxi or by car or bike. After you enter the park, you will have to drive from attraction to attraction as the distances between them are too vast to walk. Motorbikes can be rented from many places and make for an easy way to get around if you plan to explore the park by yourself. The longtail boat rides within the park can be booked as part of a tour and are a great way to explore and see the mangrove forests and the coastline area.
