Tips For Every Traveler

You've prepared for your trip and now you're ready to go. There are some things that you should not forget before you leave. Taking care of some tasks beforehand will give you a smoother trip. Getting your home in order and getting organized is going to feel great when you are on your way and do not have to worry about anything except what you will drink with your dinner.
Don't leave home without finishing these tasks!

If you have pets, who is going to take care of them in your absence? A pet kennel will have an everyday routine for your pet. Having a house sitter has its perks too.
Having a house sitter can also mean you can leave a list of things to check on and do while you're not around. For example, if you have a pool, then you know about your in ground pool cost and how important its maintenance is. This may be worth it to have a house sitter.
Cash Flow
Before you leave, go to the ATM and get some cash. If you are traveling domestically, you will want to have some cash on hand. Use the ATM that is from your bank so that you will not have extra ATM fees. You can also map out the available ATM locations that will be near to your travel destination. You will be able to save some money by having this list.
If you are traveling internationally, then a bigger bank near you could help you by having those bills on hand. For some currencies you must let the bank know ahead of time so they can arrange the bills for you. Make some calls to banks to find out how you can go about getting your hands on the international currency before you leave. When you arrive, you won't have to bother with using an ATM.
If you do plan to use the ATM while abroad, make certain to call your bank and credit card companies to let them know about your travel plans. If they are not forewarned, your cards could be blocked. The banks usually try their best to protect accounts from fraudulent activities.
Check the Weather
It may seem old fashioned, but take the time to check the weather. Are you arriving to the airport in the rain? If so, it may be worth it to slow down and have dinner in the airport instead of rushing head on in to the rainfall.
Knowing the weather can also let you know how you will pack. Some parts of California are not all warm. You may arrive and find that you needed a sweater.
What are your Hobbies?

Save the Number!
You may arrive and need to phone your hotel. Why not have it on hand and already programmed in your phone. This can't help. In some locations there is more than one hotel with the same name. Not all drivers will know which one you are referring to. To avoid some confusion, you can have the hotel on speed dial for that moment.
Check the Local Listings
What do the locals do in the area you are traveling to? There will certainly be a listing in their newspaper or online. Also check out reviews and lists of "best of" for more activities. Do you need to make reservations ahead of time or is cheaper to buy tickets at a local place that sells them?
