New Toyota Camry Launched in India at 48 lakh (ex-showroom): Features, Price, and Hybrid Efficiency Explained
Explore the ninth-generation Toyota Camry's design updates, advanced safety features, and improved hybrid performance at a competitive price point.

The ninth-generation Toyota Camry has officially arrived in India, carrying a price tag of Rs 48 lakh (ex-showroom). This latest version of Toyota’s premium sedan had its global debut over a year ago and continues to showcase its efficient petrol-hybrid powertrain, which is one of its standout features. Toyota has announced that deliveries of the new Camry will start immediately.
Pricing and Market Position
The new Camry is priced Rs 1.83 lakh higher than the outgoing model, which was available at Rs 46.17 lakh. Despite the price increase, it remains more affordable than its primary competitor, the Skoda Superb, priced at Rs 54 lakh. Additionally, the Camry can be considered an alternative to luxury sedans such as the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine, which are priced at Rs 46.02 lakh, Rs 54.40 lakh, and Rs 60.60 lakh, respectively.
Design and Platform
Built on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, the ninth-generation Camry sports a refreshed design. The front fascia adopts Toyota’s “hammerhead” styling, characterized by a sharp nose, slim LED headlights, and integrated daytime running lights. A sleek grille now nearly links the headlamps, while the Toyota emblem has been repositioned higher compared to the previous model. The bumper design, inspired by Lexus, adds a sophisticated touch.
On the side, a bold character line enhances the sedan’s profile, complemented by redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, C-shaped LED tail lamps and other styling updates complete the modern aesthetic.
Colour Options
The new Camry is available in a range of eye-catching exterior colours: Precious Metal, Dark Blue, Cement Grey, Emotional Red, Attitude Black, and Platinum White Pearl. These options cater to diverse preferences, ensuring the sedan appeals to a broad audience.
Interior and Features
Inside, the Camry’s cabin has undergone significant updates, providing a premium and technologically advanced environment. The dashboard now features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, offering seamless connectivity. A nine-speaker JBL audio setup, a 10-inch head-up display, and digital key functionality add to the tech-rich experience.
Rear passengers are treated to a luxurious experience with reclining seats that include controls in the rear center console. Other comfort-focused features include ventilated front seats with 10-way power adjustability, a three-zone automatic climate control system, and a sunroof with a retractable sunshade.
Advanced Safety Features
Safety has been a priority in the ninth-generation Camry, which comes equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite. This advanced driver assistance system includes features such as pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, radar-guided cruise control, lane-tracing assist, and road-sign recognition. For enhanced night-time visibility, the Camry also includes an automatic high beam system.
Additionally, the sedan is equipped with nine airbags, parking sensors at both the front and rear, and a 360-degree camera, ensuring comprehensive safety for all occupants.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood, the Camry houses a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with Toyota’s fifth-generation Hybrid System (THS 5). This updated powertrain delivers a combined output of 230hp, which is an improvement of 12hp over the previous model. Fuel efficiency has also seen an upgrade, with an ARAI-rated mileage of 25.49kpl, making it an economical choice for a premium sedan.
The Camry’s hybrid system is coupled with an eCVT gearbox, offering smooth and efficient performance. Toyota provides an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty on the battery pack, ensuring peace of mind for hybrid car buyers.
Assembly and Availability
The Camry has been brought to India through the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route since the launch of its seventh generation in 2013. The new model will also be assembled at Toyota’s manufacturing facility in Bidadi, Karnataka.
In conclusion, the ninth-generation Toyota Camry combines advanced technology, luxury, and fuel efficiency, solidifying its position in the premium sedan market. Its competitive pricing and enhanced features make it a strong contender against its rivals, while the hybrid powertrain aligns with the growing demand for eco-friendly mobility solutions.
