Observations On Dead Vocal Subscriptions

Been Cutting Down My Subscriptions

A Nightcafe Creation By The Author

Introduction

I am still looking for reasons why I am unable to publish any brand-new stories on Vocal, but just being a user rather than an administrator, my options are limited.

Given that the thing that is stopping is a combination of things that are totted up for the system to decide that I can't post anything new, I thought maybe I have too many subscriptions.

When looking at my Subscription feed, this is what I saw and what I did.

The music is "Cut Me Down" by Lloyd Cole and The Commotions.

What I Saw, What I Did, and What Happened

I saw a lot of Creators who I had subscribed to had not published anything in over a year, sometimes up to four years. I thought there was no point in leaving those open, and maybe they are affecting my Vocal profile.

So I have pruned, probably about a hundred users, many of whom I subscribed to when they had a Top Story, and I invited them to join VSS and featured them in the Community Adventure.

Some were new Creators, and I subscribed to encourage them.

I was surprised that many who had not posted in over a year were still V+ members. That means they have forgotten about Vocal, but are still paying for it, a bit like those one-month subscriptions that you forget about and end up paying for.

Conclusion

After all the ones I've deleted, I still can't create a new story (remember this one is recycled), but there may be a twenty-four-hour delay, so I will try again tomorrow.

Thank you for reading, and don't worry, if you are still publishing, I won't be dropping you.

Good idea Mr. Mike I was thinking about doing that too. For I have a little over 200 subscribers and when I reviewed I noticed some of mine were not publishing for quite a while.

  • Oh no, it's been 4 months since I've published anything, and it may get longer as time goes by. So please don't unsubscribe from me 😅😅

Deleting dead accounts is something I should also do. I don't think those dead accounts were linked to not being able to publish new stories, though. What would be the connection? What do they say?

I wonder if that is a problem here. I have over 600, i wrote a piece saying goodbye to them but never posted it. Now i may start letting go of them too. It is a good idea. I thought you were posting again...what the heck.

I really need to do this, I'm sure that there's some dead subscriptions lying about in my feed.

Just a thought, but you have a large volume of stories. Have you inquired as to whether or not there’s a data limit for each account that may be causing the problem?

I go through my subscriptions and delete all the test accounts and old accounts that haven't been published in a while. I've never seen any sense in keeping them. Except for those with whom I've struck up a friendship, I always hope they come back.
