Some amazing and impressive statues of angels.

The Angel with the Cross is located at Castel Sant’Angelo, a towering fortress in Rome, Italy. The angel stands on the Saint Angel Bridge. This statue has historical and religious significance and was originally built as part of a mausoleum for the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The angel is holding a cross representing the Lord’s protection and guidance for the city of Rome and its residents. The statue also symbolizes the Lord’s guidance and intervention in Roman affairs.

Angel with Crown of Thorns is among the most famous marble artworks created by Italian artist Bernini. This angel depicts the scene when an angel removed the crown of thorns from the head of Jesus after his death on the cross. Bernini sculpted the statue in 1667. It can be seen at Sant’Andrea delle Fratte in Rome, Italy.

The Angel of Grief is a sculpture created by the American sculptor William Wetmore Story in 1894. (pictured above) It is at the grave of his wife, Emelyn Story, in the Protestant Cemetery in Rome, Italy.

The Angel of Independence is the creation of the Mexican architect Antonio Rivas Mercado, completed in 1910. The angel stands atop of the Victory Column in the middle of the roundabout on Reforma Avenue in the center of Mexico City. He commemorates the centenary of the outbreak of the Mexican War of Independence. The statue is made of bronze and covered with 24k gold. The laurel wreath that is held aloft in the angel’s right hand represents the head of Miguel Hidalgo and the country below, symbolizing victory, while her left hand holds a broken three-link chain, symbolizing freedom from the shackles of three centuries.

Angel with the Superscription is a marble statue also created by Italian artist Bernini. This angel statue holds an object that is related to the Passion of Christ. It depicts an elegant angel with the symbol of the cross crucified above Jesus, inscribed with the words “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” It can be seen at Sant’Andrea delle Fratte in Rome, Italy.

Archangel Michael is known in religious traditions as a powerful and courageous celestial being and is depicted in numerous statues from different cultures and periods. These angel statues embody the essence of his role as protector, warrior, and leader. In numerous sculptures he is depicted in a ferocious pose wielding a sword or spear. This representation symbolizes his role as a warrior against evil and darkness.

Habakkuk and the Angel is a sculpture created by the Italian artist Bernini and completed in 1661. It is found in the Church of Chigi in Rome, Italy. Habakkuk and the angel is based on a story in Daniel 14 in the Bible. The statue depicts the angel pulling the hair of the prophet, guiding him in the direction of Daniel, who was imprisoned in the lion’s den.

The Recording Angel is the creation of the American sculptor Lorado Taft in 1923. It is located at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Waupun, Wisconsin, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This bronze angel depicts a winged angel with a large book spread out on his lap. He is an angel appointed by the Lord to record the events, actions, and prayers of everyone.

The Statue of an Angel is an impressive three-dimensional artwork by Italian artist Michelangelo, completed in 1495. The angel sculpture is carved from marble and depicts a winged angel kneeling and holding a large menorah. The statue can be seen at the Basilica of San Domenico in Italy.
