Something is Beginning
Something is Beginning Wait! What? Why? Mike was so glad to be home. Prison had been more horrible than anyone can imagine. Sixteen years for a crime he didn’t commit and had no part in. A rather violent rape that had left the girl completely disabled. She had apparently been waiting for her sister to appear and didn’t see the man coming at her. The park was dark and quiet, broken only by the sound of Sandy gasping for air as her attacker held his hand over her mouth. He had brutalized her for almost 20 minutes before passing strangers happened by. She had been beaten so badly, the doctors weren’t sure she would recover, if she even survived.

Love's Circumstances
Gargoyles were always her favorite and she brought three of hers from home to college. They sat prominently on her desk in her off-campus apartment. This bright March morning, Susan walked across the quad and headed for the student union. Wilmont College was a beautiful place with a beautiful campus. Student union, library, class buildings and administration buildings all built with Gothic architectural influence. She had loved it when she first arrived here for her freshman year and after she had met Dennis, it was paradise. She joked about love at first sight with him, but truly believed that was what happened. “Hey Susan,” Jason yelled at her as he ran to catch up. “Hold your horses. Going to breakfast?” he asked. Susan tried not to let Jason see the tears in her eyes. “I’ll go with you if that’s ok.” Jason was hoping Susan was nearing the capacity to move on with her life and could he continue to be a friend?

A Life Reimagined
As a child, I am driving along with my family on our way to a vacation destination I didn’t know. I had never been here before . . . I was so sure of that. Five brothers and sisters all chatting, fighting or playing car games when suddenly, the road narrows and there is water on both sides of the street. I have been here before. Maybe not during this lifetime, but the familiar feeling of this place lets me know I have indeed been here before. Like visiting a long forgotten place or a memory from another lifetime.

Childhood Memories Not Forgotten
The snow was falling and I could see Tommy & Eddie coming across the street. The day after Christmas was always Sledding Day on the hill. Everyone came to spend the day on the hill . . . toboggans, sleds, saucers, whatever they had used last year or had gotten new yesterday for Christmas.
