Yo, Girl!
Ok, let me get this part out of the way. These words are original. They're a translation of a reasonably well-known poem, though. When Vocal threw up a challenge to write a love poem with words of four letters or less, I got to thinking. "What would good ol' Bill Shakespeare do with that? What if Sonnet 18 was translated for a rapper?" (I've come to appreciate rappers as poets.) That should be enough to explain the abomination written here. I make no apologies, except perhaps to the late master, himself. No slurs of any kind are intended.

Isle of Manifestations. Content Warning.
Author's Note: What do you do when a friend and one of your favorite Vocal creators suggests you use your weird Facebook cover photo as inspiration for a poem? Personally, I do as I'm told. Thank you, Cathy Holmes, for the marvelous suggestion and I can only hope I've done justice to the idea. (I'm not sure how my mind went on the journey it did, but here's where we ended up!)

Painting Her Own Audience. Top Story - June 2023.
I originally considered spinning a fictional yarn about the mural I chose for the cover of this piece. There's certainly more than enough going on in the painting to spark any number of creative fires. Heck, it's even got a cat (two of them in the full mural)! After a bit more thought, I realized the true backstory behind the artwork is inspiring and heartwarming enough to stand on its own.

Finding My Own Way
If you've followed my writing on Vocal, you may have read a story about my father I published a little over a year ago. On rereading that story, I decided that it wasn't exactly what I wanted to say for this new challenge. It does say a lot and I'll link to it at the bottom of this story, but please, don't jump to read it now.
