Memoirs of a Walgreens Photo Specialist
Names have been changed to protect the identity of those involved. I had been working for Walgreens for a little over a year before my view of the world was shattered. While I have had to deal with shoplifters, I had never even seen a gun before this. Not in real life. That is unless you count those of police officers and security guards. There is also the pump action BB gun my father had. That gun couldn’t do any real harm. I’m sure it would hurt if you got shot by it, but it wouldn’t draw blood. My cousin had one. He once “accidently” shot his brother in the butt with it. I remember him pulling his pants down, outside, on the front porch. His friends were gathered around him, looking at his naked butt to make sure he wasn’t bleeding. He wasn’t. We all had a good laugh.

Sandy
The first story I ever wrote: I was in the 4th grade. I was not the type of kid that would take an assignment just the way it was given. I would always like to go 2 or 3 steps beyond what was said. For example, when asked to draw a picture of a house, in 3rd grade, I drew the floor plan and what the house would look like from different sides.

For Ever
Chapter 1: We Are Family The old man sat in his chair staring deeply into the black and white photo in his hand. He seemed to be completely lost in a distant memory. The world no longer existed. Only his thoughts of the past. A time long gone but never forgotten. The young lady in the picture was very pretty. Her name was Molly, and he could still hear her beautiful voice in his head. Her skin was smooth as silk. Her eyes were so bold you could almost see the color blue although the picture had no color. He could see it. He really didn’t need the picture. He could see her in his head as if she was still in front of him. Her hair was blond. She looked intelligent, educated, smart. Her smile was contagious, bring a smile to anyone who see her. However, the old man was not smiling. His face dropped into a frown and a single tear began to fall from his eye and down his left cheek. It rolled off his cheek and onto the piece of paper on his desk on which he was just writing. The tear put a stain on the paper. Then another tear fell and another after that.

The People of Gulf Island
For thousands of years the people of Gulf Island lived in perfect harmony with the wildlife on the island. One of the most commonly seen animals was a very large lizard known as the Lumen Dragon. The dragon was mainly active at night but also in the early morning hours. It was rumored that in the path they walked, great fortune would follow. This was specifically true when it came to the main source of food for the people. Oddly enough, this was dragon fruit.

Boom!
I was one of those kids with a 4.0 GPA. You know the type. A nerd, a geek, a dweeb. There were other names, you know what I’m talking about. My sister was just as smart as I was if not smarter. Basically, we were some of the smart kids. We excelled at everything. We were not the type that get bullied all the time. We had the interpersonal skills to fit in with any crowd. The jocks were not our friends, but they didn’t mind being seen with us. Most of them wanted to date her, didn’t care that she was that much younger. Most of them came to me for help with their homework. I guess that’s why they chose us.
