Starting an Online Magazine
At the beginning of 2016, I decided I wanted to create an online literary magazine. While taking a course about poetry with an emphasis on publishing and literary magazines, I was quickly inspired to create my own magazine and involve my peers in the process. I also soon realized that this would take A LOT of time, effort, money, and at least a few people. Thankfully, with the help of my husband and the few people who have stuck with the magazine and what it stands for, Independent Noise is still up and running. If you are interested in joining a literary magazine or starting your own, here are some starting tips.

Healing After Being Cheated On
For those who haven't had their heart broken, their trust shattered and confidence totally destroyed by being cheated on, I hope you never have to go through this pain. It is unbearable, yet survivable. For those who have gone through this hurt and have survived my heart will always be with you. I understand this pain well but you are not alone my friends. This article is not simply about being cheated on by your first love, or by a fling or by a rebound. This is written for those who have been cheated on by their soulmates, their life partners and who have found the strength and courage to heal themselves. Here are some of the phases you might have gone through when you discovered the betrayal, and for those who have cheated or been the cheatee, this is an inside look into the pain the faithful partner has been through.

New England & New Mexico Clash
There are always going to be differences between individuals in relationships — in any kind of relationship to be frank. However, in a romantic relationship, these difference can sometimes become more obvious. This is especially true if you and your partner met in an area where their culture is very prominent. My husband was from New Hampshire and lived in New England for most of his life. I, on the other hand, am from New Mexico and I've lived in the South West for most of my life. He moved to little old City of Crosses to attend college and he found that he enjoyed the Hispanic and Mexican culture. As we have gone to visit his hometown and our country's original thirteen colonies we both have noticed intriguing differences in gender roles from New England and the South West. At times these differences have halted our communication and at other times it's allowed us to lead the conversations or situations to our benefits. Regardless of where people are from, love is love and it can last. My cousin is from Austin, TX and this love of his life is from Norway! And my husband's best friend is from New York, and her boyfriend is from California. Love is always possible! Here are some gender roles we've noticed between our two cultures. And keep in mind these observations are not always true for everyone in the South West or in New England.

My life is perfumed. I've laid in bed at thirteen, my gaze transformed from last night's reading, with the savory spiciness press between the pages of a book as it rests against me. In the shower, I washed my lover's hair after a night of vodka and sweat, the blend of fruit-scented shampoo, steamed water and our clean skin after a hot shower penetrates my pores.

You've found your soulmate! They are everything you expected them to be, and even more! You two couldn't be happier together and your friends and family are supporting you both — Congratulations! Seriously, finding your other half is a big deal, a wonderful event, and there is no reason why you two shouldn't be happy and thrive together. But let's be honest, some of the best romance stories friends like to hear are ones that are filled with juicy drama, and some of those best stories are about how you and your partner met but were both in different romantic relationships with other people at the time. If you live in a large city, let's say Houston, TX or San Diego, CA, the change of running into your partner's ex-boyfriend or girlfriend are extremely slim. However, if you live in Dartmouth, MA or in Las Cruces, NM, the possibility of seeing their ex increased. Whether you run into each other at the local market, between classes on campus, or see each other at the only cafe that has decent coffee in the entire town...
