Stolen Bike, Not Valor . Top Story - December 2025.
Koa was riding his new electric bike through the city park not too far from the US Embassy where he served in an Asian country. The ride was a part of his daily evening workout. He didn't really like the idea of an electric bike because he thought it was lazy. Besides, Koa had another good mountain bike he'd bought here used and it gave him a much better workout. But this one was his girlfriend's gift for his 29th birthday that she had taken the trouble to ship to him across the ocean. Koa felt obliged to ride it out at least occasionally, but promised himself not to use the battery. He even took it off the bike, to avoid the temptation.

Silk!
Silk is my favorite fabric. Not only because of its feel and texture - we say "silky-smooth" for a reason - but also because it's strong, durable and beautiful. However, its production is incredibly cumbersome, resource-intensive and prone to various environmental factors such as climate, disease and bacteria that can damage or kill silkworms and mulberry trees.

Stray Dogs in Tbilisi
No one can keep an accurate track because the registration and chipping is not systematic, but there are estimated 120,000 stray dogs in the country of Georgia, with up to 45-50,000 roaming in Tbilisi. It is a lot for a population of 1.4 million people.

Love and Marriage with Pride. Top Story - December 2025.
Several years ago, my good friend asked me to write an affidavit or a formal letter about our long-term friendship and my knowledge and observation of his relationship with his partner. Why, you would ask? It had nothing to do with the fact that it was a same-sex marriage, which was already legal at the time. It had everything to do with my friend's partner being an immigrant. He had arrived in the US on a fiance visa which was later converted to a conditional green card. A couple of years later, they were petitioning to change the conditional green card to a non-conditional one, which would give my friend's partner a path to citizenship.

New Writing Crypto Coin
The very little I know and understand about block chains and crypto currencies comes from one and only legendary NYC venture capitalist, Fred Wilson. In blogger sphere, he goes by AVC, currently publishing his blog on Paragraph, a new writing platform for ideas. He has developed a remarkable habit and discipline of blogging daily for over 25 years now (reminds me of our own Vocalite Cody Dakota Wooten in this respect).

Laghami Church in Svaneti
If you are not familiar with the history of Christianity in Svaneti, Georgia, you would not guess this building is a church. It looks more like a very old house, with no distinct Georgian church dome or bell tower. The only thing suggesting it’s a religious structure is the cross on its roof and the cemetery on its grounds.

"There Are Wolves Up There!"
My professor friend K and I went for a hike to the mountains around the town of Mestia in Svaneti, the highest region in Georgia. We wanted to see the Koruldi Lakes near the glacier at the foot of the two-peak Ushba mountain of the Greater Caucasus Range separating Georgia and Russia.
