Kick Off
At least I have a view. That’s always… interesting. I’ve been living on the roof for a few weeks now, and as the weather worsens I’ve come to resent it. Pouring rain at all hours, thunder rumbling the darkening skies, wind gushing against my broken skin, bashing me over the uneven surface. It's never strong enough to take me over the edge, though. Always a barrier blocking me from escaping, from finding my Pete again.

My Aspirations for 2024
I joined Vocal in May 2022, and didn’t write a single thing for the entire year. I saw it advertised, and had extra money that month, so I decided ‘sure, why not?’ and paid for the year subscription. I saw emails come through every once in a while, for the challenges, and ‘What’s on Vocal?,’ but I never bothered to read them or have a go.

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* The microwave loudly announced it was finished with its signature repetitive shrieking. “Oh crap, not again,” she mumbled, hurrying to silence the machine. Yanking the door open wide, she reached in with soapy hands towards the now-steaming mug sat in the centre of the turntable.
