When I started Vocal, I never thought I'd pour so much of my heart and soul into this online writing portfolio. I am so utterly shocked now that I put over 1,000 of my stories, poems and personal essays on Vocal, I finally hit my goal of reaching 20,000 reads!

I can’t talk about anything beautiful
I was eating my first bowl of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup since I was a kid. The flavor was nostalgia in a bowl. Yet, all I could taste on my tongue was something sweet and special that I had lost long ago. I had once found beauty in single moments in my life. I cried deeper tears that felt like a endless well as I took that first savory and familiar sip. Like the last rung on a ladder, like that old Stephen King story about the brother and sister and lost youth, I felt stuck in the moment of life and death—fear and freedom.

Atonement is available for pre-order and will be released tomorrow on JMS Books, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, etc! —— I almost spit out the fire that built these words. I almost destroyed all evidence of this strange study in Grammer and syntax.

The Reason: Last chapters and epilogue
Chapter ten: the house of splinters Husk was deep in a different kind of game. Deep Aces, flushes and painstaking counts that could leave him either utterly devastated or reeling with pride. His momma often taught him to be wary of pride as, "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall,” was her favorite thing to say in his youth. Proverbs 16:18 was a very outspoken verse in his house as they were very poor and usually didn’t have much to eat. School was for the rich. Farming was for… well, suited for his degree of intellectual caliber. Or so his papa often reminded him.

The Reason: chapter’s four, five and six
Chapter four: permission “Ohhh fuck that's good! Mmm! Mmmphhh!” Husk heard his cries above a sea of bubbling climaxes, as the sensual movement of hips, sensual hands and groins kept a ocean of intimacy going steady.

The Reason: chapter three
Chapter three: scientific method Anthony looked upon his friend with an almost scientific method set up in his mind. Husk, the once incredibly unsocial and taciturn man… was actually a true gentleman and a great listener. Husk’s usual cranky manner melted away into a soft nervousness and shyness as they closed the door to his friend’s room.
