John Jay-North Salem Takes Swim Meet over Somers-Yorktown
Please Scroll to the end of the article for all sports photos from Fall 2025 On Wednesday October 15, John Jay-North Salem traveled to the Mildred E. Strang Middle School in Yorktown Heights and faced the combined Somers Yorktown team in a cross town swim meet. So by the time clocks stopped ticking on the scoreboard, the visiting team was far from being all wet.

28-14 Victory Over Harrison Readies Somers for Rematch Versus Rye
Scroll to end for photos After going into the locker room with a 20-0 lead, the semifinals of the sectionals versus Harrison seemed well in hand. Hold on, a 70 yard touchdown run by the QB Jack Badner got the Tuskers attention, and more so when Harrison stopped the two seed on the next sequence. So with the Huskies taking the momentum, Somers needed a reset and muscle was the game plan.

John Jay’s Season ends on the Pleasantville Whistle Stop
See Photos Below On Thursday October 30, John Jay traveled to Pleasantville for the semifinals and the cold, rainy welcome obviously wasn’t the only obstacle. The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead and the Wolves looked dead in the water. Not quite, the girls cut the lead in half and with two minute left in the game, the tying goal landed in the net. Unfortunately, the whistle said otherwise.

Somers Runs Through Brewster for 30-0 Victory
See Photos Below When Antonio Accurso picked off Tristan Iglesias with 4:43 left in the first half, it was the third stop Brewster put on Somers in a 7-0 game. “They came out strong,” said RJ Peterson. So a spark was needed, and the bolt came out of the backfield.

So when the Wolves jumped out to an early 1-0 lead and the score held through the half, John Jay looked like they might go home bragging. But the elephants still had their tusks and came out in the second half with the ivory sharpened.

Their second meeting in ten days, Yorktown was looking for revenge after falling in an 1-0 overtime thriller. So taking an early 1-0 lead seemed like a pretty good idea but not according to Catherine Natko.

Somers Sweeps its Way to Quarterfinals
See Photos at End On Wednesday October 29, Somers hosted the Pelham Pelicans in the first round of the sectionals, and to open, Maegan Brown did exactly what was expected. She smoked a perfectly set ball. Enter Katie Kourakos on a long second point rally and Pelham witnessed that the standard play is a whole other matter for the Somers setter.

Somers Comes Back for Senior Night 2-1 Win Over John Jay
See Photos and Video at End On Tuesday October 14, Somers hosted John Jay and winning the cross town rivalry game seemed like a great way to celebrate senior night. But the guests didn’t oblige and took a 1-0 lead into the second. So Somers countered with a spark.

Scroll to end for Photos After upsetting Roosevelt in the first round of the Sectionals, Jon Jay took to the road again and hoped to break Panas over the bracket. A furious back and forth pace ensued but it was a six minute stretch in the second half that told the final tale.
