Lyrical Interpretation from Bob Dylan: 'Blowin' in the Wind'
Bob Dylan is one of the most well-respected musicians in his era, giving strong meaning and perception to timeless music. "Blowin' in the Wind" (recorded in May of 1962) provides three themes to the song: war, freedom, and peace. Those themes give strong meaning to social movement and the Vietnam War. Each line in the song gives a different meaning and suggests structure throughout the entire song. In analyzing the lyrics of every verse, there’s no right or wrong answer to what something means or suggests. However, a common theme is mentioned, starting with lyrics representing war in the first verse.

How to Fail as a Singer/Songwriter
1. Need a band. It’s really hard when you can’t just do music accompaniment by yourself because singing/writing is your strong point and playing instruments is not. You have to remember though that for anyone playing with you: it’s their music and time too (unless you or a record label are paying enough to give you the creative control). Still, it’s harder to keep musicians involved that aren’t creatively invested and just feel like human instruments. If you want others involved, you have to be a team player.

'The Greatest Showman' Soundtrack Review
The Greatest Showman hit the theaters December 8, 2017. Since then, it has not done anything but receive amazing buzz about the movie, the acting, the singing, and the music. I saw the movie awhile back, and I have listened to the soundtrack on repeat more than once. Each song is different than the last and each song has a different story from the real world incorporated into the movie as well. Songs from this album have reached the charts with famous song writes who helped along the way. The Greatest Showman is about PT Barnum and how he started the original circus would eventually lead to the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. This movie focuses on the original story of PT Barnum. Here is my review on The Greatest Showman Soundtrack along with a synopsis on the movie as I tell the story of each song.

The Golden Age of Gospel - The Highway Q.C.'s
As I have said in the previous post, I would talk about some of my interests, college, music, and my experiences with Young Life. The main interest I have that not many millennials have is gospel music from the 50s and 60s. The reason for that is because this type of music has been forgotten for the last 60+ years in American music history. I believe that because it is gospel music, and that not many people listen to it despite the amount of white and black audiences it attracted then.

Top 5 Tips for Getting Your Music Discovered Online
1. Pick a unique band name Usually, I’d say the name of a band doesn’t matter; but in the cyber world, this can make all the difference. Picking a name that is easy to rank for on Google is essential for new fans to be able to find you! Ranking for keyword searches on Google is very easy when the keyword or long tail keyword (combination of words) isn’t something many people search for. Let’s take the band “Real Estate” for example. This band has over 1 million monthly listeners, and over forty thousand Instagram followers. With a quick google search of their name, they rank…nowhere on the first five pages. Now let’s look at my high school band “Olympic Formal” (this isn’t me trying to plug my music I swear). With just over 50 followers on SoundCloud and less than 700 followers on Instagram, all our sites pop up at the top of the first page. You think anyone is searching for “Olympic Formal” and not looking for us? PICK A GOOD BAND NAME!
