The Best Collab We Never Got
I discovered Nick Drake and Vashti Bunyan around the same time. I was a senior in high school and going through some stuff mentally that put me in the darkest headspace I'd been in at that point in my life. The purity and emotional nakedness of their music was truly beautiful to me. It was music I had always romanticized in my mind, but didn't think could actually exist. Despite the melancholy lyrics and gothic-folk air to the songs, their music was like a hug that made me feel like everything would be okay. I clung more fiercely to Nick, as his music spoke to me a little more; though I did and still do enjoy Vashti Bunyan's music as well.

Top 15 Funk Guitarists Who Brought the Groove
Funk music burst onto the scene in the late 1960s, bringing with it a raw, infectious energy that revolutionized popular music. At its core, funk is all about the groove — a rhythmic interplay that makes you want to move, dance, and lose yourself in the beat. And while the bass and drums often get the spotlight, it’s the funk guitarists who inject the soul into every riff, lick, and chord. Their inventive techniques — like the famed “chicken scratch” — helped define a genre that continues to influence musicians across styles today.

Nesta at 80
80 years... I am pretty much astonished that I grew up hearing his music the way I did, or lived with his legacy. I have the t-shirts, albums, biography - through my brother's early interest - certain expired drinks and have even seen headphones and other technology with his face and name imprinted on them. He is as much a part of our pop culture as Charlie Chaplin, the Beatles, and Taylor Swift. His fingerprints are all over our understanding of what music from the Third World actually means.
