The Importance of Live Music
I’m hoping that everybody reading this has been to at least one live show in their time. If not, what the hell do you do with your time? Because mine is taken up by earning money for gig tickets, buying gig tickets, waiting for gig tickets to arrive, and going to gigs. My life revolves around it. If I were to list every band or artist that I have seen live, it could be well over 100. Since I went to my first gig on October 27th, 2010 (it was The Blackout at the Bristol O2 Academy), I’ve never stopped going to gigs.

It All Started With a Beat
It all starts with a beat. The beat that you just repeat in your head. The beat that flows through your body like blood. If you're like me you'll understand. You just want to hit every note perfectly with your body. When you just hear that song and you want to get up and bust a move. The way your moves look and how they flow with the beat of the music. You don't even have to think, it just happens. Music blasts, you move your body. You get in this zone where nobody else exists, your problems go away, you don't even notice if anyone is looking. You're doing you. You're focused on the music and how the lyrics sound. All your stress is being released. You're happy. Adrenaline is flowing through your body as if you're on a roller coaster.

5 Life Lessons Music Has Taught Me
We're all suspected of being under the influence of music, relying on this harmless addiction to boost our levels of dopamine. Chasing that rush, sending chills down the spine, calming the chaos in our mind — music seems to become our personal pharmacist. Beside this beneficial effect on the emotional roller coaster inside of us, music can teach us many valuable lessons on life, and make us overall better human beings.

Enter Shikari Has The Best Fanbase
In my previous article, I mentioned that Enter Shikari changed my life for the better, but I am not the only person that has been positively affected by the band. There is a group on Facebook called "The Shikari Family" that has about 2000 active members (I am one). Calling it a group feels almost like an insult, some of the members honestly feel like an extension of my family. The members are super supportive and caring towards each other and always plan meetups, group chats, and recently we started a collaborative Spotify playlist so that we can expand our musical interests.

Why Enter Shikari Is My Favourite Band
I was stumbling through youtube one day and found an amazing song called "OK! Time For Plan B." It would go on to save my life and help me make some of the best friends ever! But sports games would introduce to me to some of my other favourite bands and also keep Enter Shikari in my mind all the time.

The Healing Power of Hip-Hop Music
I was first diagnosed with knee cancer called Osteosarcoma at 14 years old (1999-2000), and while doing my chemotherapy treatment, I had to get a knee replacement to save my right leg. While doing chemotherapy treatment, I came across hip hop artist Nas and his album Stillmatic.

Mehtab Malhotra: An Outsider's Stumble Through the Musical Poetry of South Asian Ghazal
After a few minutes winding down streets near Green Park, London, I stepped into the Nehru Centre (cultural wing of the High Commission for India). I showed my ticket and wandered in, spending some time perusing artwork displayed in a well lit, high ceilinged room before heading upstairs for the concert.

Should Playing Music Make Us Happy?
I love yoga and I love music. I often create parallels between the two practices, both so connected to the breath and body, connecting the physical body with the mind and spirit. I noticed a significant improvement in how my music practice made me feel after maintaining a regular yoga practice. The things I learn about one also help me to relate to the others. Recently, I listened to an interesting podcast from Brett Larkin Yoga entitled: What to Do when Yoga Doesn’t Make You Feel Happy and couldn’t help but think many of the points applied to music.
