As new fans begin flocking around this high budgeted dramatic saga, the anticipation for the final season is growing exponentially. The internet is overflowing with fan theories and prediction videos soaring through every nook and cranny to try and disentangle the plot of the much-awaited conclusion. The grand finale to the game of houses battling against each other for the iron throne and the war against the white walkers from the far north.

The Struggles of Being a K-Pop Fan
I love K-pop. K-pop is life. I started listening to K-pop back in 2010/2011 when I stumbled upon a Girls' Generation video titled “The Boys.” It was the English version, so I thought they were an up-and-coming girl group here in the US. Then I found out there was a Korean version of the song. That’s when I discovered they were a Korean girl group, one of the most popular girl groups in South Korea. They’re so popular, they were given the title of “Nation’s Girl Group.” I began discovering more and more groups until K-pop became the only genre of music that I listened to. I watch every music video for the group I like, I routinely watch their performances when they make a comeback, I try to watch whatever variety show they’re guest starring on and I follow a lot of them on social media.

Why We Need a New Rage Against the Machine
Who here remembers when the historic rap-metal group Rage Against The Machine burst into the mainstream? I don’t because I was only two years old when they broke up, but I do listen to them on a regular basis and consider them to be one of my favorite bands. Zach de la Rocha’s rebellious, left-winged, resistance-charged lyrics, Tom Morello’s innovative and expressive guitar work, Tom Commerford’s driving bass lines, and drummer Brad Wilk’s funk sensibilities, all contributed to creating one of the greatest politically-driven bands in history. Due to a wicked time of change of cultures and politics in the 1990s, this band emerged as the voice for the underrepresented and neglected classes of people and ideas.

Xav A. Releases Catchy New Tune 'Old Milk'
Just a couple weeks ago R&B/Pop artist Xav A. released his fall single and music video "Old Milk." He stated that he hopes one day this song can be in the popular Netflix series Stranger Things. When you hear this song it gives you that back in the day, 80's dance feel. The music video is very retro and almost looks like a fun video game you would play in an arcade or a old system back in the day.

In My Eyes: City Pop
The end of 2018 is only three months away, and moving onto the next year means more advances in technology, social networking, and global issues. However, over the past couple of years, there has been a few trends that have begun to resurface onto the scene with a new generation of listeners (including me) anticipating every finger-licking moment of it; and it's retro. Lofi hip-hop and City Pop are the two most spectaculars that have made its way back into mainstream, as Japan during the 80s was easily overlooked because of how voluminous the US was at the time, City pop never got into a good run, but the history of these two wonderful genres have become one the biggest live stocks in the generation to date as popularity in aesthetics, and K-pop have broken borders in the West, giving the East some credit.

The Flava Flavs of Our Generation
While traveling to my classes via ride sharing services; my driver brought up her opinions on the rappers of the current day. Like many people who grew up in the old school era of rap and R&B, she didn't understand the success of rappers like Lil Pump, DJ Khalid, or Lil Yachty. She wondered what about them made this new generation flock to them or why her little brother kept singing about a gang of Gucci.
