A Legacy of Musical Souls
INTRODUCTION My earliest memory in life is the sound of my mother's voice singing "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean", which you can hear done well by clicking the link below. It doesn't capture that maternal warmth my mother had, but it is a beautiful rendition of the song.

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - The Covers Playlist
Introduction This playlist is cover versions of songs by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. I saw them live many times and unfortunately, we lost Alex to a heart attack the day before his 48th birthday in 1982. He had still been performing for three decades as he began performing in Skiffle groups in 1954.

My Life's Playlist
What a challenge! Music has been such important component of my life. Iβm sure would be simple to make up the 5000 words listing the titles of songs I love, so cutting back to just a few is difficult. But I do enjoy taking on a challenge. Be aware that each song listed represents many others, as well as itself, that were important at the time.

Late Review: "Saint Latin's Day Love Massacre"
Everyone loves nostalgia. Okay, maybe not necessarily, but there's no denying that older works are what make the present what it is. What I really mean is that, it is impossible to ignore past works of art when they have such an impact on the present. The butterfly effect is real, people.

Theremin - A Playlist
Introduction The theremin is an unconventional electronic instrument, named after its Soviet inventor LΓ©on Theremin in 1928, and which doesn't require any contact to be operated. The fruit of research into proximity sensors, the theremin's setup is usually consisting of two metal antennas that sense the distance to the player's hands and react accordingly, one controlling the volume of the sound, and the other controlling the frequency and therefore the pitch. By moving both hands in the air and changing the distance to the antennas, musicians produce an eerie electronic sound.

A Soundtrack To Life
If life is like a movie, then you have to have a soundtrack, right? It wouldn't make sense for life to not have a playlist of tracks that not only help spell out your life through music, but also give a sense to others about how it felt to be in that moment (or moments). This might be a playlist, but like any great one, it won't fully encapsulate what it is that its trying to evoke in terms of emotion. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever fully capture how life is. But, you gotta give it a try, and just like life, you gotta go with the flow. So here's the playlist (in no particular order). There's a description next to the song to show what it invoked or captured in me during those specific moments and segments in time in my life. Some of these tracks don't have lyrics, as they would be included in a film soundtrack. And, some of these songs are not in English. Like in life, sometimes you don't need to fully understand or have words to really make you feel. Here's the playlist:

From the Streets to the Stage: The Birth and Rise of Jazz Music
"Music is the silence between the notes," said the French musician Claude Debussy, a "silence" that expresses the dreams and desires of creators. Jazz, music without a political identity, was a protest and has always indicated the need for freedom. Its charm was not only due to its sound but also to the fact that it embodied the victory of popular culture over the culture of the few. It enabled people otherwise condemned to cultural non-existence to assert their participation in art seriously.

Rock and Technology: Tracking Rock History through Omni Magazine. Top Story - May 2023. Created with: OG Collection.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame unveiled their 2023 inductees yesterday, renewing conversations around the history and evolution of rock music. Each year of inductees attracts critiques from both ends of the spectrum, with some arguing that inductees stray from the definition of βrock,β and others arguing for further inclusion of the musicians who both inspired the genre and made it relevant each decade.
