Music Projects We NEED in 2018
Childish Gambino I'm not sure what name he plans to use when he puts out his new project, but if his new deal with RCA is an indicator, there is new music that is coming soon. He shook up the world with Awaken, My Love! as no one expected a funk/R&B album in 2017. It was an album that was incredibly fresh and nostalgic at the same time. I'm wondering whether his new music will be more along the lines of funk, like his last album, rap, like albums prior to this one, or something else. After the Grammys he said that he will be making his next project his last.

Songs About Long Distance Relationships Every LDR Couple Should Listen To
Songs about long distance relationships have been around as long as there have been long distance couples. It was John Donne who first underlined the ache of romantic separation in his poem, “A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning:” "Our two souls therefore, which are one, Though I must go, endure not yet A breach, but an expansion, Like gold to airy thinness beat." From here it’s straight to The Beatles' “P.S. I Love You.” Is there anything harder than long distance love, if you’re in it? Probably not. Long distance couples have a tough row to hoe, for sure.

7 Worst Albums of 2017
There's no better time to reflect upon the worst music that 2017 had to offer than late into January, right? Right? Alright, I know I'm a little late to the party, but this is only because it took a little longer than usual to compile the ultimate list of worsts this time around. 2017 undoubtedly produced a lot of quality music, from Father John Misty's riveting masterpiece Pure Comedy, to Alvvays's glistening Antisocialites, to Paramore's refreshingly sharp After Laughter, it was a fantastic year for music.

The 'List: Best of New Wave
Hello, one and all. Well, we're a couple of weeks into the new year and while we've been sort of stuck in the mostly 1970s rut, me and my co-conspirator in this experiment: Calvin (he'll always be Oates to me) Cherry have decided to shake things up and add more diverse 'lists rather than focus on singular artists. But, fret not; many artists from various decades will get their just due 'lists: Fleetwood Mac, Commodores, Billy Joel, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince are all due for 'lists this year, so hang tight, and they are being drafted as we speak.

Remembering David Bowie 1947–2016
This week inconceivably marks two years since David Bowie’s untimely passing, but it’s still hard to believe he’s gone. This week, on what would have been his 71st birthday, I am once again exploring his extensive catalog, as I fondly reflect upon my personal journey of discovery into the bewildering artistry of Bowie.

My Top Tracks of 2017
My favourites of the past year, in no particular order... and yes I included myself in there too.... Mysterious singer, songwriter, and producer that names herself after 'God' and hides her face? Yes please. Elohim was my special find of 2017, an eclectic sound so unique to her alone. She recently finished touring with Alison Wonderland, this is her latest offering. Enjoy.

10 of the Greatest Rock Albums Ever Made
I have to confess, as a card-carrying member of Generation X and as someone who was in the stands when some of the greatest rock albums ever made were actually released, I have spent an inordinate number of hours in the midst of “greatest rock albums ever made” conversations. I’ve grown up reading list after list, too; everything from the first-ever Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Albums of All Time to The Observer’s 100 Greatest British Albums. I’ve devoured countless books about music, including my bible, The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock n’ Roll. I’ve perused myriad issues of Mojo and Q, as well as Creem when it reemerged while I was in college. So I’ve had a chance to vet the opinions of a great many outstanding critics while constructing my own edifice. Where has it gotten me? Down a rabbit hole where you drown in classic rock and die with your motorcycle boots on.
