PROLOGUE: DATING AND WAITING 11:20. That’s what the digital readout on the wall clock in the Digital Café, a local coffee hangout for the eclectic mix of students at Great Ridge State University, said. Brian Kenley fruitlessly compared his phone with the digital, satellite clock. Of course the times still matched up; just like the previous three times he had checked them. Ashlie Hahn had agreed to meet him at 10:45 for “just coffee;” this would be the make-up “of-course-NOT-a-date” after the three previous casual attempts to meet with one another. Like a fool, Brian always believed in her and had an excuse all set for her absence. Once the god of his mother’s understanding set a female peer with a pretty face and a great set of…x chromosomes…in front of Brian, all of the rules of his judgment of character were null and void. As for Ashlie, he had been determined that she was the prettiest face to ever cross his path ever since beginning his second semester at Great Ridge State. It was partially evident, even to him, where his ability to read a person’s character had left off when it came to Ashlie.

The Life of a Jewish Stripper
First let me say I have a great respect for strippers and sex workers of any type and not just because I was one. It is not an easy job. They put up with a lot of shit and most of them are great women who as the cliché goes have a heart of gold. To be honest I miss it every day of my life. I miss the money, the attention, the feeling of power over men and the comradery with the other women. It is not as a glamorous a job as it may seem. I thought it was something I would never want to do with the rest of my life but if I was twenty-five or thirty forever I probably would do it if not forever then as long as possible. Perhaps I am romancing the past, because when I was in it at the end all I wanted was to get out. I only wish I had saved as much money as I could instead of wasting it on my ex-husband's drug habit.

St Fandom Academy Part 8
Blackadder stared at the vacant students in front of him like cockroaches to crush. He had been warmed that Class D had been a particularly challenging class to teach. With the likes of Eric Cartman, Vicky Pollard and Ash Ketchum, Blackadder could see their point. But there were others that caught Blackadder's attention for the wrong reasons. Students like Wendy Testaburger, founder of the Vegan Poets Society reminded Blackadder of the woke activists that threw baked beans at his banks.

Serving Spoon
Adults look silly eating watermelon. But aren't funeral receptions inherently awkward? Fretful. Surely Aunt Rachel should have cut them into sticks (more dignified) rather than triangles. Instead of a feel-good summer snack, there's an air of humiliation in dripping rinds and wet chins. She should have known better.

Beneath Six Feet
In the midst of life's bustling rhythm, an unnerving silence enveloped a small, dimly lit room. The air was thick with the scent of aged wood and the weight of inevitability. In the center of the room lay a coffin, its polished surface gleaming dully in the subdued light. The room's only occupant, Henry, sat alone, his thoughts consumed by the paradox of life and death.
