Things from 80s

Let’s start with my favorite movies I remember loving in the 80s. Some I still love to this day. Do you ever grow too old for your favorite childhood movie?

- Goonies

- Never Ending Story

- A Christmas Story

- The Live

- E.T The Extra-Terrestrial (I remember going to the movie theater with the kids I babysat for and their mom and dad. I cried for Elliot and E.t and tried to hide it.)

- Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (I think I watched this a few years after it came out, remember my brother liked the movie and watched it with him)

- Back to the future (I was 10 when this first came out, I didn’t get to watch it until a few years later. My parents could not afford to take us three kids to the movies.

I could go on and on. What was your favorite movie that came out around this time? You don’t have to be from the 80s to know and like movies from that time. Let’s stay in this category and check out a few T.V shows from the 80s

- Simpsons

- Full House

- Little House on the Prairie

- Roseanne

- Married with Children

- Seinfeld

- The Golden Girls

- Captain Kangaroo (My daughter remembers watching reruns of this show, she was born in 94’)

- Saved by the Bell

- The Wonder Years (this was my all-time favorite T.V show)

I could go on and on here also. So many great movies and T.V shows at this time. What was your favorite T.V show? Shall we look into toys from the 80s now?

- Cabbage Patch Kids (I wanted one so bad and my parents could not afford one. I remember being around 8 or 9. I cannot remember how much they sold for. Looking it up was anywhere between 21–50. It says 21 was the original price but most shop owners doubled the price to make a profit.) The cabbage patch that I finally got for my birthday was a hand-sewing one, not even the original doll. I still loved it. I named her Sherrie Kerrie (my first name, Kerrie and she had my last name which I will not disclose) Yes, the dumbest name ever lol but I loved her. I was young.

- Glo Worm

- Care Bears

- Masters of the Universe

- Micro Machines

- Popples

- My Little Ponies

- Pound Puppies

- Pogo Balls

- Rainbow Bright

- Speak and spell

- Etch-A-Sketch

- Lite Brite

- Spirograph

What is your favorite toy from the 80s? Do you remember any one of those I mentioned? I remember getting my first walkman, hand me down of course. But nonetheless, I was o happy. I was just getting into music at this time, in the late 80s and the music was like no other. Hip hop was just becoming a thing and here is a list of some of the great songs from the 80s.

What is your favorite toy from the 80s? Do you remember any one of those I mentioned?

Bon Jovi “Slippery When Wet”-1987

George Michael “Faith- 1988

Bobby Brown “Don’t Be Cruel”-1989

Every Breath You Take” — The Police-1983

“Walk Like An Egyptian” — The Bangles-1987

“Careless Whisper” — Wham! -1985

“Look Away” — Chicago-1989

This is my 3rd story on the 80s. I love the time I grew up in. Things were so different back then. Today is rush, rush, rush. I stood with my dad for an hour at the junkyard looking at things and pretending. We did not rush to do things. Things got done even without rushing throughout the day. What sticks out in your memory from the time you grew up? What is the one thing in your childhood that is something you keep on your mind and can not seem to forget?

What is your favorite toy from the 80s? Do you remember any one of those I mentioned?

Yes, I realize the years for the spirograph and lite bright are not the 80s. The article I read was incorrect. They are both from the 60s. Sorry for the wrong information. I still did play with those when I was a child growing up in the 80s.
