Right Picture, Wrong Time
Today I’m going to share my most embarrassing moment. Although there have been so many to date, at this time, I can think of only one moment that left me absolutely mortified with shame. The day one goofy, inappropriate picture taken by my laptop's web camera for my long-distance, very sexually open boyfriend was discovered by my father, of all the horror! So here’s what happened... my boyfriend and I were talking over Skype, a now outdated video chatting software, one day when the subject of intimate relations came up. At the time, we were over 5,000 miles from each other and had no way to express our love in that way, so we mostly sexted a lot until things got more heated.

Yellow
It was a summer night in the Midwest, maybe twenty years ago. I was at a bar alone, a habit that I practiced quite often back then. I loved the freedom and the small degree of anonymity found by sitting at the bar by myself. I am not chatty; I will certainly speak to someone if he strikes up a conversation (almost always a “he”), but usually the only dialogue was between the bartender and me, and that was usually a brief conversation.

A little too Vocal?. Top Story - March 2021.
My embarrassing moment may have just been an unintentional promotion for this website. I cringe at the thought. I was going to use something from my childhood, teenaged years, that sort of thing, but that's expected during that age. Those don't bother me.

One Time At Band Practice
Lucas Rogers was a rare breed for the small high school I grew up in. Many girls had crushes on him, and I was no exception. He was a band geek, but one of the few tan and handsome men at our school. He always wore nice, preppy clothes, and a tight beach themed necklace followed by a cross around his neck. He could make a joke out of anything and was never less than lively. He was friendly to everyone, no exceptions.

Ice Cream Romance
This week was brutal. I look the same in the mirror, but on the inside, I am merely just remnants of the person I was on Monday. Still, my day is not over as I grab a shopping cart and walk into my local grocery store. I have wanted a glass of merlot since noon. However, instead of beelining to the wine isle, my crushed ego and spirit pull me over to where I know you are lurking, the freezer section. I impulsively grab you as I cannot resist your pint sized chocolatey and peanut butter goodness and I head to the checkout line.

What goes around
Tonight, I will be getting married at midnight. The poor guy just doesn't know it, yet. I caught sight of myself reflected in the copper elevator door of the luxury hotel, Wynn Las Vegas. Wearing not quite a bridal outfit. Red latex dress and black velvet choker, to hide my barcode, I look so young. Young? Not really. I’m 52 but I look 25. And I will forever.

My Most Embarrassing Night As An Officer Because Of Taco Bell!
This happened to me in the late nineties and was at the time an extremely embarrassing experience. So hey, let's share! Work had been stressing me out and I just wasn't sleeping with a damn that week. Not that it's an excuse, but I'm painting the picture and giving some context. I got off work at noon on Saturday. Being a single parent I had a seven-year-old that had spent two days with my parents I was so busy. Right after work, I went to pick up my son and we went for lunch. Back then I had an affinity for quick and easy lunches so we picked up the mighty, Taco Bell. I had two burritos and four tacos. I bought extra to throw in the microwave before work because my plan was to stay awake until seven and then take my son to my folks' house for the night. One more night before my weekend began was all I could think of that day.

At War
I remember college I had a friend that asked me ‘what does it feel like to be black’? It was the first time that I had been asked, so It intrigued me. I had never thought about it consciously, but I must have thought about it subconsciously because of the metaphoric answer I gave him. I said “It feels like I’m at war”. After that day, I began to think about it more consciously. Why war? When one thinks about war, they think about fighting, guns, nuclear bombs, tanks, and death. So, how could I be at war? I’m not in the military nor am I in an armed conflict with another country or nation. But there is a conflict. In fact, there are many.

PLEASE Open Up...
I spent the entire summer looking for a job, and finally received a call from a major bank for a full-time, floating teller position. Of course, I accepted the offer and was given information on when and where to show up for training. I was expecting your typical on-the-job training, but no; this financial institution had its own training center that I was scheduled to attend for three weeks. Let me tell you about one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, that made them send me straight to a local branch after my first three days at the training center.

The Toronto Incident. Second Place in (No) Regrets Challenge.
Memory is a funny thing. It defines so much of our lives. We can remember exactly where we were during historic events like September 11th. Little things, like when we forgot our lines in the third grade play, are also locked away forever in our minds.

My Assistant Is A Spy
I have a 'Thing' for shoes. A lot of my friends do as well. There are usually five or six pair of heels under my desk at the office. I have a small mirror near my desk to check how my shoes look before I go to meetings, or anywhere really. A few weeks ago I noticed the mirror was moved a few feet from it's normal place. I chalked it up to the cleaning crew that comes in in the evenings.
