Leif's personal battles
The heart throb had to deal with a lot, sad
Every girl in America and around the world knows who Leif Garrett is, but so do us gay men, who were hot blooded teenagers at one time. Leif had a great career going for him, plus his good looks but he couldn't stay away from the drugs and alcohol. Now he is known as one of the bad boys of Hollywood. But is it his fault? I would say no because he stated that his Manager was pushing the drugs on him.
Leif was stunningly gorgeous and yes I had a huge crush on him. My boyfriend and I both would pass his picture around kissing him and imagining we were on a date with this heart throb. I do feel sorry for some of these folks in Hollywood, especially if they are talented and they are used by their managers, or have overzealous parents. How many child actors are victims of this? That is why I was glad to see Zach and Cody leave Hollywood so they could lead a normal life.
What is there not to like, the long flowing blond hair, the eyes and a nice body. My sister couldn't understand why her magazines kept disappearing. I had Leif's picture on my wall in foster care and the foster parents were concerned that my sexuality would rub off on their son. I laughed and said no it won't. They asked why was I so attracted to Leif, I said what's not to like, he's gorgeous and he was . My sister wanted to marry him and was mad when her magazine with his pictures disappeared.
Leif wasn't just a singer he was also an actor. He appeared in episodes of Gunsmoke and other shows. He was talented for such a young person, now he appears on World's dumbest criminals. He has lost all of his attractiveness and I wonder if he is married or single. But thanks to videos like these we can reminisce as to what was. As I have said before, we never know what will happen to us no matter how hard we try. All we can do is try our best and when children become stars often times the parents are blinded by the money and not the best interest of their child. That in itself is a sad testament as to some parents priorities. Most child actors don't receive their pay until they are eighteen, it is placed in a trust for them.
Who was responsible for this young mans care and well being. Leif Garrett was a busy child actor in the early ’70s when he was given the chance to make a record — an experience that led to extraordinary highs and lows. Garrett not only became a teen idol overnight with jet-setting tours and numerous Tiger Beat covers, he was also exposed to drugs and alcohol. And just as quickly as he achieved fame, Garrett endured a devastating downfall and ultimately battled addiction for years. Garrett is now 59 and sober and sharing his story in the memoir “Idol Truth,” which details his journey to Hollywood and how it all went wrong. Garrett spoke to Fox News about the misconceptions he wanted to address, why he resorted to drugs and what his life is like today.
