Casino One Arm Bandit
That dam Casino slot machine is calling my name! It's that regular donation time to the lottery corporation, and it's calling me. "David, David, come David" You can almost picture it. A dark cloud resembling a slot machine hovering over my head, doing the collapsing of the index finger gesture! It's that time, David! It's that dam one-armed bandit calling my name again! The same machine that keeps stealing my money!

THE ACCIDENT
As a young family in the Los Angeles area with two young children, paying rent and putting money in someone else's pockets was not what we wanted. Owning our own home was our goal. Did not earn much money at the time but managed to save up a small down payment to put towards a house. We could not afford a home in the Los Angeles area, so we looked at the high desert in the Victorville, Hesperia, and Apple Valley area. We found a small three-bedroom, two-bath home in Hesperia. The property was on 1.1 acres of land and was considered horse property. It was a house on 1.1 acres of sandy dirt, no plants, no grass, and no trees.

Recycled Pain, Part 1: The Car Wreck
I sat alone on our bed, laptop open, waiting for my therapist to join our Zoom call. I had logged on before him, giving me a minute to decide how I was going to tell him what had happened. The truth was, I didn't want to tell him what had I had done; I didn't want to tell him that it had happened again.

I am done adulting! Check Please!
My office is a mess. Coffee cups, empty Pop Tart bags, sticky notes in various colors spewed around with essential tidbits of information. There are seven cheat sheets from work on reconsolidating my work credit card, posting social media, engaging donors, engaging volunteers, and upcoming programming that I still need to make flyers for.

Does My Fear for Death Exist? — Fear for Death Is My Psyche
With the pandemic still going on, Germany would be the best option to go on holiday. Germany is also one of my ultimate countries to go on holidays. The decision I made: I booked a holiday at two destinations in Germany. I booked holiday homes in the Eiffel, Germany. In the mountain, I could walk there. The mountains here are not high enough as my husband wants. Also, I could walk through small villages to see their beauty. I love that. I was beyond excited to go on holiday.

Gemini Mind Tricks
I want to give an example of Gemini mind tricks and how far we will go 😅 There was this waitress in a coffee shop I go to once or twice a week. She's cute and we have nice conversations and I start to like her. I think she likes me too but there's still this waitress/customer dynamic. I could be a bold fire sign and ask her out but that's not the Gemini way. I can see that she is used to my attention, she expects it now and that can be a little difficult to break out of, like being friend-zoned

EMPATHY
According to the dictionary, empathy is defined as “the understanding of another’s situation, feelings, and motives”. I find it difficult to understand that a person could lack such consideration and compassion for another living creature, but, clearly, I have seen otherwise. On many occasions, I have witnessed disconcerting behavior both aimed at myself, or other individuals and have questioned the our society's complacent moral standards. For as long as I can remember, my ability to treat others with kindness has been second nature, and a vital part in my moral practices and beliefs. Faced with many challenges during my childhood, my empathetic disposition was not only enhanced, but, undoubtedly, the strongest building block in my ethical foundation.

Pandemic
One of the striking events at the beginning of the pandemic was walking into Sainsbury’s, helping my mom, an NHS nurse, with the weekly shop - something I’d soon realise I’d taken for granted. A week before ‘Lockdown’, it was becoming apparent that the situation was dire, particularly as we circumnavigated an aisle, shoes squeaking, and stopped in surprise. Seemed people had got there long before us and drained the supplies of toilet roll, disinfectant, Marigold gloves: not rumours. Mom regarded me nervously, saying, “This is ridiculous. What’s with these people?”.

The Forgotten
In Bible times, people suffering from the skin disease of leprosy were treated as outcasts. … They were forbidden to have any contact with people who did not have the disease and they had to ring a bell and shout “unclean” if anyone approached them. Nowadays we can heal most aliments, so who among us are the lepers in society? I am going to say something very controversial so please read my entire article before you condemn my thoughts on society. I have lived it, and seen it through the eyes of many people. Let me make my case before you shame me for having these non-conforming thoughts on the behaviors of society . We love to say that everyone is equal in modern society, that enlightenment and education has liberated us from ignorance and human maltreatment. But to believe such a thing makes one uniformed, and means they haven't lived in the dark sides of human reality and experience.
