Nestled under fine-woven sheets laced with blue and purple silk, she sat up in the window seat, given to her by her new master, the man she shared her room with. Looking outside the clear glass aperture, there were two mockingbirds: one male, one female both chasing after each other with every chirp met with a kiss, on each other’s’ beak. Feeling the heat of the sun wrapping around the top of her neck, increasing it's intensity, she moves her gaze to the bottom of the sequoia tree right outside her hotel room.
