The apology my fourth grade teacher really deserves...
It was the year 2003. I was in fourth grade. My dad had just recently started letting me say "crap". It was a privilege that was revoked within 24 hours because my sister and I literally said it in every sentence - even when it made zero sense given the context of the sentence.

I fear happiness
"Happiness is not out there, it's in you." As I've grown older I begin to realize many things about myself, but one I hadn't yet realized was my fear to be happy. I suppose in my subconscious mind I had always known, but it's now made its way to the forefront. I was watching a video on Youtube titled "Why I am afraid to be happy." by Kari Morton. If you have time I would definitely go and watch it, really gets you thinking.

A Self-Imposed Thanksgiving Day Disaster
One of the more frustrating aspects of over-thinking is its tendency to make us do extremely stupid things. I’ve often found myself in situations in which I overthought what should have been a simple decision, but, instead, I got lost in a maelstrom of options ranging from “meh” to “oh hell, I’ll gonna regret that later.”

Perfectionism: The Fine Line Between Obsessive and Productive
I organize my closet by color, then by sleeve length. All of my clothes face the same direction, and nothing is falling off hangers or sitting on the floor. The hangers are all the same cedar brown with a metal hook.

Dating Diary of a 40 Something Year Old
It was a beautiful fall afternoon when my daughter picked me up to grab a cup of coffee and rant all about our current boy topics. I had just "kicked out" my latest greatest unhappily ever after, so I was feeling a little on the snarky side. I shared my questions regarding the life I was providing him and confusion as to why he never wanted to spend time with me. Well, outside of the "brown chicken, brown cow"... wanting sex from me. Even that had become almost a never and when it did, it was becoming more of a chore than something that was fun or special. My daughter laughed at me and said, "he is a hobosexual Mom"!

I Took on Student Debt to Get a Degree in Creative Writing; Here’s Why I Don’t Regret It
Guess who’s the poster child for a millennial who got a “useless” humanities degree and then graduated into an economic depression only to be underemployed for the next several years that followed?

Singing In A Trash Can
I had the good fortune of being cast in a production of HAIR in college. I played Jeanie, a supporting character memorable for being pregnant and singing a solo while being rolled around the stage in a trash can on wheels. It was an incredible experience, and even though we allegedly came very close to being the first cast of HAIR to travel to China, nearly making a deal with the original Broadway producer to fly our cast across the world, I somehow had an even more memorable experience the second time I did the musical.

Facing The Truth In Baby Loss Awareness Week
Time. Funny thing that timey-wimey stuff. Sometimes the months rush past in glorious technicolour that brings us to exclaim 'Halloween? How is it Autumn already? How the time flies.' Sometimes a minute can last a lifetime, it has to last a lifetime, like the last moment you hold your living child in your arms.

I Gave My Ex-Boyfriend Lice
For a few years, I worked in catering and was often lucky enough to be assigned coat-check by the maître’d. It was always a relief and made me feel appreciated in the workplace. I made amazing tips, got to wear clothes that didn’t make me look like a penguin (because my uniform sure did), and I didn’t have to work very hard at all.

Dear Montana
Dear Montana, I didn't come to Nevada under the circumstances I had originally expected. The initial plan was to move down here with a man I had met and dated in Great Falls for over a year. I knew I would eventually wander outside of your boundaries, but it was he who initiated this move to Reno.

A Mother's Transition
Before I became pregnant, I was unaware of the option to skip labor when giving birth. All my prior experiences with the process of bringing a human being into this world followed somewhat of a formula; first a person creates life inside of them for nine months, then the ever-dramatic cramping and breaking of the water occurs, then there’s a chaotic rush to the hospital, then the hours of blood-curdling screams of agony and buckets of sweat, and finally a tiny bundle of joy emerges. On every television show that tackled the baby topic, and in my own life when my sister had my niece, the formula ensued. However, my journey into motherhood differed greatly from my preconceived gatherings.
