The funny thing about getting off the airplane on the Galápagos Islands, is that it looks like you accidentally landed on Mars, not one of the most pristine marine ecosystems in the world. Everything is painted with orange and dust, and even the cacti look somewhat confused as to how they ended up here.

Kyle's Fish
The thick body of the fish glided along the sandy bottom of the shallow sea, its mouth held open in a foreboding grin. The water was murky, but the creature rarely relied on sight; its nose picked up every organic molecule within the length of a football field, and a lateral line of sensory organs felt the minute electrical impulses of every living thing in the vicinity. The great fish saw only a cloudy green emptiness and the dull tawny sand of the sea floor, but understood perfectly on some primitive, instinctual level its role as the ecosystem’s apex predator.

Should Plastic Be Banned?
Recently, whether or not plastic should be banned has not only been raised more than once, but as people have become more aware of the damage to their current environment and there is another interest in saving people's climate in the future, understanding the causes and effects of plastic and plastics. In this discussion we will look at the concept of plastic, its effect on the climate and on the developing debate whether it should be banned. People are constantly remembering that, no matter how harmful plastic is to the weather, it is likely that it will create a destructive climate if we continue to increase consumption. City Dweller Reflections
A city dweller spent their life in cozy quarters. They'd only ever known a concrete jungle. In the Spring of 2020 as the world awoke to news of unexpected danger, they began to shelter in place. They were told to take precautions, so they did their best to fend off the menace in play. Their quotidian motion, now arrested, bought them time, and time brought opportunity. It was a chance to see what busyness had been hiding. They noted the quiet those early days. All were confined, movements halted, restlessness stilled. Their close view of the world outside was a non-descript parking lot like so many interspersed throughout their great city. Filled with different makes and models of their neighbors’ cars, they'd only always noticed the same ones. There was the little covered sportscar. It had always been there. They knew it by the shape, but the color they couldn’t recall. It remained invisible under the old tarp. They saw the dilapidated yellow Volkswagen, still parked in the same spot. No one seems to drive it out of the parking lot anymore; they mused. So many cars are what they saw, until the leaves of Spring began to obscure the view of what was below their vantage point.
