The Library Is Changing at the Speed of Google
The university library. For those of us of a certain age, many, many an hour was spent there. When we walked uphill through the snow - bothways, of course - to do research, there was simply no alternative. The university library was the place to be. It was where all research started. When you needed to do research, the library - not the World Wide Web - was your source of all information. Yes, it was also a social place and a study space, but more than anything else, the purpose of the library was clear: It had "the stuff" you needed to research anything - and there really was no alternative!

How to Achieve the Egg Drop Challenge
The egg drop challenge is a science-type experiment that has been done in schools for decades now. The experiment can sometimes consist of students being broken off into teams to compete on who can create the best device to ensure their raw egg will survive the drop. The main objective is to take the egg in the contraption and drop it down a high altitude, such as off the roof of a building onto the pavement below. Sounds like an impossible task to be able to be done without the egg cracking or totally being smashed open, which is where the challenge comes into play. Over the years, various types of methods have been used in an attempt to fulfill the task and these have proven to be effective in their own way depending on the design and execution.

End of the Year Activities for Kids
Termination can be a difficult time for both clients and counselors or teachers. Students can react to endings in a variety of ways that can often be unpredictable and really different from their usual behavior patterns. Some students might withdraw and mentally seem to create some distance, while others will become aggressive or might act out for increased attention. By incorporating activities to help wrap up the end of the year, you can help curb some of these reactions and ensure that students get closure around the work they have done with you. These can be especially helpful for teachers or counselors who will no longer be working with these children again the coming school year.

I am a second generation Chef, which just means that my dad is also a Chef and has worked in kitchens all of his adult life. My dad did not go to culinary school, but rather, he worked his way through the ranks of kitchens like a true old-school culinarian. If I had to do it all over again, that might have been my choice as well.
