fact or fiction
Is it fact or merely fiction? Fact or Fiction explores the myths and beliefs we hold about our family dynamics, traditions, and if there's such thing as a 'perfect family.'
Brodie's Notebook
Brodie shifts the knapsack across her shoulders again, and I flinch. Inside, the rounded corners of my empty pages scrape across the canvas of her worn knapsack. I've spent years inside Brodie's packs moving between foster homes, hoping that she would put words on my pages and make me live.

See what it’s like to live a little bit!
See what it’s like to live a little bit by Wendy E. Golding When she was younger, all her dance teachers called Irma ‘Duchess’ after a famous ballerina. With Italian and eastern European family ties, Irma had similar features and background to the ballerina and she too had progressed into a successful ballet dancer, travelling the world and meeting the rich and famous. She had also married well. The name stayed with her and her closest friends took to calling her ‘Duchess.’

Hidden Things
Hidden Things Do you ever have moments where you are sitting in a place - could be a coffee shop, or on your couch. At work or even in church? Moments where you are almost removed from your body and you can see yourself in motion through each and every decision and place you have ever been? And as you move through those moments, the invisible path of your life shapes as one foot is placed in front of the other…for the good and the bad; for the productive and the devastating? Sometimes the path is created by conscious decisions you make and others seem to be created by the life choices of other people and you’re just brought along for…

Grampas Book
There was work to do. I did not care, I had been busting my hump between working, family and moving. We had decided to move cross country to give the family more opportunities. That was how I found myself sitting here going through a box of old family whatnot hiding from the reality and responsibilities. I was supposed to be weeding out anything that did not need to come with us, but instead I was having a moment with the past. I noticed a small black journal with a similar book bound to it. I did not remember seeing this before. Curious I picked them up, untied them, and began to peruse the journal. It was a journal of my grandfathers. It did not look like any of his other journals or notebooks, most were on permanent loan to various colleges and how it ended up here with me was anyone's guess. This looked like a journal of his from his time with the army during the second World War. Gramp’s had been Corp of Engineers and held a degree in chemistry and spoke German, which was why he had been ordered to remain in Germany after the war and help the Paperclip operations.

The Morrow’s
It was 1847 the leaves were beginning to bloom on the Yarrow trees that lined both sides of a long stretched roadway to the house. The grounds had lavish green rolling hills as far as you could see, our sheep were just making their way to our lake to drink and feed, there is probably over 100 sheep that roam freely on our property. The house was white with lite blue trim around all the doors and windows, I say it looks more like Aqua the color of the beautiful Caribbean waters. It has wrap around decks on the top and bottom levels of our home with 10 bedrooms all having French doors leading out onto them. It has Ivy climbing up the side of the house and along the upper and lower verandas with flowers in hanging baskets and planters every where. This is the most beautiful place in the spring and summers when everything is colorful, blooming and full of life and fragrances. We are a well to do family, money passed down from generation to generation which I will never understand how we make our money as all the men in this family are Inventors and not all of them have been successful, but the best thing about the Morrow men is that they always strive to move forward no matter how many times they fail. It’s one of the many things I love about my husband, how the Morrow men put it “ we never fail we just haven’t succeeded yet" always full of life, amazing adventures and exciting lasting family memories. We have five children ranging from ages 3 to 16 years. Two older boys, two younger boys and a girl in the middle. All are very bright and talented no matter what they do. Oooooh the imaginations on my littles I guess that’s the advantage of having a family of Inventors, its runs though their veins.

Grandfathers Looks
For one reason or another it intrigued me. After me and my family had grieved, perhaps some still are, but regardless the duty of cleaning out Grandfather’s house fell to us. It was different knowing when I entered the front door that I was only greeted with an empty room rather than familiar faces and one day I would no longer be allowed to enter this house.

DO YOU HAVE AN ATTIC?
DO YOU HAVE AN ATTIC? EXPLORE ALL THE CORNERS! He sat across from me in the corner booth. He was bruised and bandaged, but smiling underneath his pain. “I’m sure glad you came to get me at the hospital. I don’t think I could spend any more time there…it’s depressing!”
