A Scar's Story
How the scar was created No one ever expects to start a New Year with a permanent reminder of pain, but that’s exactly what happened to me. I was in a car accident on New Year’s Eve, and it left me with a nasty scar along my right forearm. The doctors told me that the scar was likely to be permanent, and I was devastated. I had always been proud of my smooth, unblemished skin, and the idea of having a permanent blemish scared me.

Cinnamon Waffles
The smell of childhood sweeps across the air, awakening all those within reach. It is the smell of cinnamon waffles, a smell so familiar as if I had stepped into a picture frame, with my mother laughing in the kitchen making cinnamon-covered waffles, cutting fresh strawberries, and brewing vanilla coffee. The windows are open, letting every last drop of sunlight into the room, lighting up the bloomed yellow daffodils that filled every corner of the room—somehow, the yellow daffodils bloomed year-round. A light string of jazz music fills the air bringing the mood of an old black-at-white movie.

Shell Decorated Package
It is a beautiful warm Autumn day in Central Queensland, Australia. I had just finished my delicious homemade breakfast of spinach and fetta omelette, with a side of potato fritters and tomato jam. Freshly brewed coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. It was just what I needed, on my day off to do whatever I wanted to do.

Dropped
A buzzing sound in Mabel’s ear woke her out of a sound slumber. She opened her eyes and reacquainted herself with her living room. "Jingle Bells" played from the holiday music station on T.V. Her new dog, Frankie stared straight at her ready to lick her face any moment. He was an old Jack Russell she adopted from the shelter last week. Her daughter, Sharon wanted her to get a pet to keep her company since her husband Bart passed last year. It was a comprise Mabel agreed to since she was not going to move in with Sharon and her family which is what her daughter really wanted. When she saw Frankie, she knew he was the one. He was older, but according to the staff at the shelter he still loved to play. They also insisted he could open any door even if it was locked once he heard the squeak of a new toy. She had not tested this theory yet, but several were wrapped under the tree
