literature
Families and literature go hand in hand; fictional families to entertain, reflect and inspire.
Pirate Hunters
“Captain, we’re under attack!” John tries to shout, but the high winds make it hard for his captain to hear. Nonetheless he could see it with his own eyes, and feel the rumbling of the ship as he braced himself for impact. He quickly regained his posture, and turned towards John.

This Side Of The Horizon
Kenzie stood on the edge of the cliffs watching the fishing boats sailing against the horizon. The white capped waves crashed against the rocks below. She longed to be out on the sea, sailing away from here, away from the only home she had ever known. There just wasn’t much left for her here. The winds blew her shoulder length brown hair back from her face and made her green eyes water slightly. She glanced down at the rocks the stared for a moment. She thought she saw something down there, an animal maybe. It had been dark brown, almost blending in with the wet stones. Whatever it was she couldn’t see it anymore. She pulled her jacket tighter against the chilly winds and turned to head home.

The Musician
“Music is not in the notes, but in the silence between.” - Amadeus Mozart The phone call came on the road. Michael Daily was doing his best to forget about the stock market. The New York City sun splashed down in soft golden ringlets against the glass buildings and Bob Dylan was singing about the times that were a-changing.

The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter
Grizzly-haired Tomas Pader had lived alone in the lighthouse, barely a soul to keep company, and he never tread on the mainland if he could avoid it. His only companions had been the rush and tumble of the ocean waves, the scant tang of a sea breeze, and the ships passing by day or by nightfall under the watch of his keen eyes.

Paradise Found
As I open my eyes, I feel a cool breeze on my skin. The smell of the ocean is so strong, so it must be close. Just a moment ago I was sleeping in my bed, so this has to be a dream, but as I look around, I come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter if it’s a dream. This place is so beautiful. I feel my body, pressed against the soft sand. I’m not ready to get up yet, so I take a moment to feel my new world.
