The Noisy Lobster—Avon Beach—Mudeford
A year ago, April 2018, we had a fabulous lunch at The Noisy Lobster. Good food, good service and in a good atmosphere—a rare triptych of qualities. So, it was with a slight degree of trepidation that we decided to return a year later. "Trepidation" because we wondered if that triptych of qualities would have been maintained over the last 12 months and we would come away from this second visit disappointed.

Amazing Restaurants in California to Keep an Eye On
Exploring and trying new dishes is amazing, which is exactly what I did when I moved to California. There's definitely a lot of popular restaurants but I've chosen three best places, each different from the last: one healthy life-changing, another is a traditional hot noddle restaurant and of course a taco place, duh.

Part 1—What is a Restaurant Today?
So, you want to open a restaurant? Well, you are not alone. In terms of new business startups, restaurants are always—always—at the top of the list. Why? Because many people simply want to be restaurateurs. Maybe it's because they are actually—or believe they are—good cooks. Maybe it's because they have their mom's "secret" family recipes. Maybe it's because they are actually trained chefs. Maybe it is because they have worked for other people's restaurants and want to take what they've learned and put that knowledge to work for themselves. Maybe it is because they want to make a bunch of money. And maybe, and it's often the case, people see themselves as being "the toast of the town," celebrated for being the proprietor of the new, "it" place to be on the dining scene.

Mission BBQ—Thanking Vets with Brisket
Hello, and welcome back to Local Flavors where I find new dining experiences in the Nashville area. Now, originally I didn't intend to cover chains in this column. It was supposed to be about spotlighting little-known spots that could be missed, similar to the purpose of my Second Chances series. However, I do feel it worth talking about the Mission BBQ chain for three important reasons:

The Best Gluten Free Places
Hurts Donuts: There are a couple of awesome donut places that will dedicate one or two days out of every week to ONLY making gluten-free donuts so that there is no cross contamination. So far, my favorite place is Hurts Donut. They are the bomb. They make so many crazy donuts and really just have a delicious recipe for those fluffy circles of heaven. Costa Vida: I love Mexican food, like a lot. I personally do not like corn tortillas very much, however. They are tough, thick, and flavorless. Costa Vida is like a way better Chipotle and is even just a little better than Qdoba. Their corn tortillas had me freaking out because I didn't believe they were corn, there was no way. They were so soft and so good, I could not believe it. Costa Vida has a kitchen routine procedure for people with gluten allergies, they care. <3 They take off their gloves, wash their hands, put new gloves on, replace all the cooking tools, wipes the grill, and cook your food on top of foil. Yogurt Land, Creamistry, and Amorino Gelato: Regular ice-cream is usually not gluten-free and I always have to remind myself of that. These places are amazing because everything they serve is gluten free, besides some toppings at the bar. For those of you don't know, Yogurt Land is frozen yogurt, Creamistry is milk-based ice-cream that they flash freeze with liquid nitrogen. And Amorino is this fancy gelato and sorbet cafe that makes those cute roses made of ice cream that you see on Instagram. Kozy Kitchen: I have actually not been here, but it was recommended to me by a waiter after I told him I have the allergy. He use to work there and told me that this place is entirely gluten-free. They make waffles, pancakes, bread (toast), muffins, and other breakfast items.

The Royal Oak, Marlborough, Wiltshire
There is something louche about Marlborough in Wiltshire. Not in a sleazy West End backstreet strip club sort of way. But as a place that feels purposefully relaxed, making it a good stepping off point between where we live in Ringwood and wherever we are going in the west of England.

Coffee
Coffee is life. Some of us can't function without it, and some absolute monsters will drink any old coffee and not care. I'm definitely not the latter. I won't drink a coffee I don't enjoy. So I thought I'd be a little helper and let you all know my favourite chains for coffees.

Gluten-Free in Paris
One of the hardest things about moving to Paris is doing to while on a gluten-free diet. This is, after all, the land of baguettes, croissants, and pain au chocolat. I've scoured the city in search of the best establishments catering to celiacs and those who, whether for health reasons or personal preference, follow a diet sans gluten.

NIKOS Coalgrill Greek Benoni
While the NIKOS Coalgrill Greek restaurants form part of a franchise, the Benoni branch is owned and run by a local Greek family who are very hands-on. This adds to the authenticity, making the restaurant a slice of Greece in our neighbourhood.
