A Letter to Danger Mouse

From Overcat

By David E. PerryPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Dear Mighty Mouse

I am aware that our paths have never crossed and that you may not know who I am. This could be due to several reasons. Before I get to far, let me introduce myself. My name is Overcat. I am a “friend” of Underdog. I’m sure that the 2 of you have met in the GSHCR, the Global Super-Hero Chat Room.

I know, cats and mice don’t normally get alone, just as cats and dogs don’t. Also, you fought crime in England while my crimes were mostly American. I was mainly stopped by Underdog, there was never a reason for you to get involved. So, unless Underdog spoke about me, you wouldn’t know who I am.

But I know who you are. I heard about you on the GSVCL, Global Super Villain Chat Line. The villains of the world always talked about Danger Mouse. You were respected more than your Mighty cousin. Everybody talks about how you’re the greatest, you’re fantastic. They say that wherever there is danger you'll be there. You’re the ace, you’re amazing. You’re the strongest, you’re the quickest, you’re the best. You’re the greatest secret agent in the world.

That being said, I could really use your help right now. My parole is up for review. I’ve been in this cell since the late 60s. I’ve had plenty of time to think about what I want to do with the rest of my lives. Believe me, I don’t have many left.

Anyway, I’m a changed cat. I haven’t caused any trouble in over 20 years. But the parole board needs the approval of my arresting superhero. Underdog will not answer my calls. Please, can you talk to him on my behalf? Ask anyone. I’ve changed. Really. Will you help me.

Yours truly:

Overcat.

The amount of times I chuckled reading this... I absolutely loved it! You have such a knack for creative and comedic details -- the antagonist of Underdog being Overcat, the chat channels, so funny and cute! Loved this entry and such a creative take on the challenge! Thank you, David!
