Siren

pushed to extremes (Epic Beginnings Challenge)

By Savannah K. WilsonPublished about a year ago 1 min read

A large boy pushed Simon down to the ground, his elbows struck the hard concrete of the school playground. He felt the sting of skin being torn immediately, but could do nothing but look up at the bully now standing over him laughing.

‘What are ya gonna do, sissy Simon!’ he taunted.

Other children started to gather around, watching on as the school bully took Simon’s school bag and started throwing everything out of it. None of them were brave enough to try and stop the bully. One little girl locked eyes with Simon as he lay on the ground, she turned and ran to find a teacher.

Simon looked back to the bully, tears now forming in his eyes.

‘P-please leave me alone,’ he said, beginning to cry.

Miss Sinclair isn’t here to save you anymore!’ yelled the bully, taking a Barbie doll out of Simon’s bag, waving it to the other kids. ‘Check out sissy boy’s dolly! So gross!’

He broke the doll into pieces and threw them at Simon, hitting him in the face. Ignoring Simon’s pleading, he picked Simon up by the scruff of his shirt, ripping the uniform’s collar.

‘My dad told me all about people like you! You’re sick and I don’t want to catch anything from you, freak!’

He pushed Simon away and lined up to throw a punch.

Simon felt a great surge of energy well up in him.

‘Leave … me …’ he took a deep breath.

‘ALOOOOOOOOOOOOONE!’

The scream was ear-shattering, sending out a shock-wave that knocked the bully back, flying ten feet before hitting the concrete. He was still but barely breathing.

Just then the new teacher came running out, stunned by what they saw.

‘What happened here?’

One of the children pointed at Simon.

‘He’s like a Siren.’

I love when a bully gets defeated, for far too long now they have been hoovering over us without any consequence. This was a very good way to end it, sometimes we become so scared and our voices are stuck in our throat, but here we have a victim as a siren.

  • I've been trying to post little hints to the connections in all my 'Epic Beginnings' stories, for this one I would draw your attention to the 'Miss Sinclair' mentioned in this story, she can be found in two other stories (but only by that name in one) 🩷

    Go little fella! Defend yourself!

  • Oh but I thought that scream was more like a banshee. Loved your story. Also, a hint please for the connection 😅
