Fable
Neon Lights
Neon Lights Prologue: There weren’t always dragons in the Valley, however this new world of ours is forever changing. Even if only a little at a time. For with each new day, fresh light spills over the hills and mountain tops creeping through the shadows of the trees. Each ray of light shows hints of impossible colors glittering down over us like wildfire, sprinkling out into sparks of dust. It spreads and flows over all of us, plant and creature alike. Bringing rivers of magic, a drift in the morning breeze and with magic, came mystery. In this new world something was always changing, always different and new. The very air around us is alive with veil light. It lives in the earth itself, the dirt, the grass, every plant and every tree. If it was on the earth, or in the sky around it, even among the moon and the stars above. Everything contained veil light, living or otherwise. But things didn’t used to be this way. Something happened that caused everything to change.

The Dragon Slayer
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. I have faint memories of a childhood without them; the Peace Years, before the beasts returned to quell the serenity of our village. I was privileged (a word my mother used) to be born into a world without fear. It wasn’t bravery, however, (she made certain to remind me). I had simply never faced the chaos of a tooth's edge or the scorch of fiery breath. To my mother, I was spoiled.

My husband sucks…
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. The myth though… that always existed. But why where dragons such a shocking concept? Was it because of their sheer size we couldn’t fathom them in our finite minds? We always new werewolves existed. We never questioned the existence of pixies. Heck we even bury our dead with chains around their feet so they won’t come back as vampires. That’s why it’s so hard for me to believe how shocked I was that day. I mean… I’m a blue blooded gypsy for crying out loud! I am imbued with magical power! Not just on the surface but courseing through my veins. I should have had better discernment. I should have seen it coming. Maybe I did know. Maybe I thought it was better to deny it. Perhaps the southern Romanian soil was calling out to me… but was it a warning? What was it saying? Why was I trying to ignore it? Was it fear? Is it fear now? How can I save my family, my people, my blood? I don’t even think I can save my own neck at this point. There has to be something I’m missing. There’s something I’m not understanding. I have to try to remember how it got to this point. What is the last normal day I can remember? Think… think… think.

Holy Duct Tape of Atenveldt
The Holy Duct Tape of Atenveldt – Cave Troll addition: The Book of Armaments, the lost chapter, verses 9 - 31. Lo, in the days of old, when the Dream was new in the minds of humanity, a wondrous discovery was made. The names of those right noble, divinely inspired gentles are deeply imbedded in the legends of the West and East Kingdoms. Their discovery, more valuable than gold or jewels, having provided devoted service was named in the much abused Latin: Taporium Ductus Sanctus, becoming known in the vernacular as Duct Tape.

Journey Of The Mind
There weren't always dragons in the valley. The fact that I could now see them told me the boom shrooms in this region were getting stronger. Boom shrooms were the hallucinogenic mushrooms that grew naturally in the valley. They were also my people's drug of choice. One of my favorite past times was taking an eighth of boom shrooms, walking up the north mountain and seeing what new things my mind would create as I overlooked the beautiful valley. I had seen some pretty outlandish things, but never dragons until that day. I sat on the mountaintop and watched them for hours as they twirled and flipped about in the bright afternoon sky. They came in all colors and sizes, temperaments and designs. I knew they only existed in my head, so I applauded my own imagination for creating them. After a couple hours, I decided to head back down the slope and engage the magnificent creatures. I was curious to see what else my mind had in store for me. Many flew above but seemed not to notice me. The first one that I encountered on the ground was enormous. It was neon orange, nearly 5o feet tall on all fours, with it's spine being lined with bony spikes 5 feet tall. I stood and stared in awe as it cleaned it's scales with a rough looking tongue that was double my size. After a few moments, the neon beast turned around a it's deep, ocean blue eyes met mine. It waited for me to speak, but I had no words. So it filled the silence with a booming voice,

The Chalciren
Make sure to check out the narration video! Without further ado: There weren’t always Dragons in the Valley. Long ago, a people fought valiantly to drive them from the land. They called themselves the forerunners, and they would not give up what little peace they found. Swords gripped firm and shields held high, they fought doggedly to whatever ends, and from the ashes of dragon fire, they stood victorious. The defeated dragons admired the forerunners bravery despite their dispute. This was not the first of the forerunner's hardships.
