I went to my elementary school reunion today after not having attended one before. 56 years old, I wanted to see what my 12 year old playmates had become today.

Where did the Chinaman come from?
I graduated from Tsinghua School at the age of 22, and in the summer of that year, the entire class of dozens of students boarded the President Jack Sun from Shanghai and arrived in Seattle, USA on September 1. After landing, we rested in the YMCA dormitory, and most of us immediately took the train eastward, while only a very few of us stayed behind to wait for the train: those who were ready to go to Colorado Springs included Wang Guohua, Zhao Minheng, Chen Zhaochang, Sheng Shimin and me. Zhao Minheng and I were assigned to rest in a dormitory. There was a big bed in the dormitory, but it was naked without bedding, so we both sat on the bed, bored by being away from home, and very sad in our hearts. It was night time, and the air was cold. Suddenly Sun Qingbo rushed into the room and said loudly.

Chongzhen two years (1629), Zhang Dai visited the Confucius Temple, saw the palace wall above the "Liang Shanbo Zhu Yingtai study place" a large plaque, could not help but be amazed. After some appreciation, and wrote down the words of the Confucian family: "the world only three families, my family and Jiangxi Zhang, Fengyang Zhu only. Jiangxi Zhang, Daoist gas; Fengyang Zhu, burgeoning family, small family gas." This means that the world is divided into three families: the Zhang family in Jiangxi is in charge of heavenly matters, the Zhu family in Fengyang is in charge of earthly matters, and the Confucian family in Qufu is in charge of both, both ideology and cultural rituals.

Highland Dragons
There weren't always dragons in the valley. My daughter called them dragons, and perhaps they were. Though they were horsebacked, they swept the Scottish Highlands, forcing many of my people to bow in fear to a foreign and Protestant king. They didn't breathe fire, per se, but the coats they wore were the color of blood. These dragons carried more ammunition than we'd ever seen.

Winter 1939. Shanghai. The night is like a charm. Near the office building of the Japanese Special Branch. A dark figure is hidden under a canopy of holly trees. The man is dressed in night clothes, wearing a mask, with two eyes shining like cold stars. He was alert to the gap between the sentry's change of guard, grabbed the sewer pipe with both hands, stomp stomp stomp, in the blink of an eye, like a gust of wind drifted into the second floor classified room.
