Bloom
In the blackest heart of the deepest, darkest cavern... they bloom. Small, yet detailed. Gorgeous, vital. Colours vibrant and astonishing, where there's no light to illuminate their vibrancy, and no eyes to be astonished. Defying the treacly nothingness of the abyss they live in. Stretching against it, waving hope in the inky ether. There are so many - this one flawed, another larger, a few jewel-perfect.

dense wood, rocks, and seashells
Frayed rope holding chunks of dense wood, rocks, and seashells knock together. The wind reminds me of her… My teeth tear through flesh and my mind skips a beat... I offer her some… Fire fills the cabin, my mind fills with panic. I run for the door but there he is, blocking me. I shout with smoke in my lungs masquerading as oxygen.

Hope
My eyes shoot open. The ground is pressing against my body. I wearily scour my surroundings. Around me lie bodies. They're all void of life's light. I'm supposed to be one of them. Before me stands the monster who did this, covered from head to toe in my nation's flag. He's proud of his work. He's saved everybody by killing us all. I push myself up with my bloody hands.
